Anyone noticing a downgrade of this board in terms of storage? The X670E VALKYRIE has had two top PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, the new one has only the first top one as PCIe 5.0 and the rest are only PCIe 4.0?

Is better that finally lack of USB 2.0. This mb also didn't have slower "5" gbps versions of USB 3.x.

Still rocking 8 layer pcb's. Seems like, unless you're playing a memory bound game, need usb 4, or are still on am4, there is little reason to upgrade to zen 5 or x870.
Zen 5 seems like an Incremental, intel-style upgrade. Hopefully zen 6 has 16core chiplets

This is not a downgrade, it's a far more rational and useful allocation of PCIe lanes. Since almost nobody owns a PCIe 5.0 SSD, it's far better to allocate those lanes to the PCIe slots where they can actually be used by add-in cards. If you want to install another PCIe 5.0 SSD later, you can buy an adapter card that plugs into one of the PCIe slots.

Looks so much cooler that the first Valkyrie series attemp with X670E. X670E sideways leaning wings looked like they wanted to fill a bigger visual of wings but couldn't fit it and intead of cutting it they angled it and it looked wrong and disorienting.

All the useless video out to the top
BIOS update button in a place nobody is going to touch...
All the specialty purpose ports keyed right under the button starting with the designated BIOS flash port and two 40Gb USB-Cs that look DisplayPort capable, which sounds nice but I just DON'T get it...
The plethora of USB filling the gaps. 8x type A ports all the same color and 10Gb designation which tells me they're all the same controller model which means less weird parts but more of the same ones so you better hope the one they went with is trouble free on this loadout or else HFS what a fun headache that's gonna be for the life of the system.

All networking blocked off to the right.

This is so clean. I'm not in the market for an AM5 board but this has me interested. Maybe if I were slowly grabbing parts for a build I'd stage it with this. Of course I also liked Biostar's X570 model when that launched but of course knowing me, Biostar USA, Biostar TW and every phone call between us trying to order ONE of their boards in a country with virtually zero presence...

Yeah. So that's why I went with ASUS instead.
Maybe if Biostar has their foot in the door by the time X970 gets here I'll be more inclined to get one of these boards.

I understand your opinion, but maybe some users do not want to buy that extra adapter and would need to transfer data at PCIe 5.0 speeds from one drive to another (maybe between two identical models?)

Hope the pricing is reasonable for such a board. Not sure how well biostar has been doing but they have had a past history of having bizarrely good hardware specs hampered by an awful bios at a competitive price. (There are exceptions I'm probably not aware of since its a very old company)

Oh boy I really hope that software is not within the motherboard because that could cause a massive headache if you know... windows makes that driver irrelevant or problematic. It definitely needs a setting to disable/enable. Biostar definetly needs to step up their bios quality and I hope they do.

At least it has an actual post code on the board for once unlike a lot of other MB manufacturers. Heck if ASUS (aside from QA problems... and being a menace to humanity) made another pro art motherboard without a dam post code this board might wipe the floor if their bios is good.

Either way it looks like price and bios quality is the next questions as to if this motherboard is worthwhile
