Complete Lineup of ASRock AMD Zen 5 X870 / X870E Series Motherboards Caught in the Open

While wandering through the Computex showrooms, our little spies spotted something interesting at the ASRock stand: an extensive lineup of motherboards built around the AMD X870 and X870E chipsets. The six models from the ASRock, Pro, Steel, Phantom Gaming, and the legendary Taichi families support the latest AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series processors. We had the opportunity to see them live on display and rushed to present them one by one, complete with pictures and main specifications.



Now we're going to look further in detail:



ASRock X870E Taichi / X870E Taichi Lite
The motherboards have different form factors, and different designs but both of them feature an impressive 27 power phase with 110 A SPS, 2 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, 1 Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen 5 x4) plus 3 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen 4 x4) slots, and Realtek 5GbE LAN connectivity. Regarding audio, it has an ALC4082 audio codec and ESS SABRE 9218 DAC



ASRock X870E Nova WiFi
Here we have a 23 power phase CPU VRM, a single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot but one additional M.2 (PCIe Gen 3 x2) slot. The audio features are powered by an ALC 4048 audio codec without any dedicated DAC.



ASRock X870 Riptide WiFi
A motherboard dedicated to gamers, sporting a 17 power phase, 80 A Dr.MOS CPU VRM, 1x PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, 1 Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen 5 x4) and 3 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen 4 x4) slots. To help gamers achieve the lowest latency possible, ASRock implemented the Intel Killer 2.5GbE LAN instead of the Realtek one.



ASRock X870 Steel Legend WiFi / X870 PRO RS WiFi
These two models are more like all-rounders, suitable for a wide range of users. Both use a 17 power phase, 80 A Dr.MOS CPU VRM, 1 Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen 5 x4), 2x Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen 4 x4) slots (1x Ultra M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 slot for Pro RS), while ALC4082 audio codec is present on the Steel Legend WiFi, and ALC1220 on the Pro RS WiFi.

Seriously why 5GB why not just be done with it and throw an SPF+ module on it and give them a 10GB rj45 module and if they want to switch to 10G fiber then it's just swapping a module. Seriously those who claim it's about the cost are talking BS. 10gbit can be obtained dirt cheap. For all I care don't throw in a module and let the user buy one I pay happily all day long for a motherboard that has an SPF+ module.

Sure I know they don't add 10G on it because it makes it all to warm but 10G fiber requires less power than a 1Gb rj45 connection.

Guess we will have to wait for B850 chipset for sub $250 motherboards.

Edit: So MSI has added 8 pin PCIe power plug(given 2 boards shown off were entry level it can be safely presumed entire range will carry it) but Asrock isnt including one.

I have a beautiful blue and green Asrock Z670 Extreme motherboard. It looks cool, has all the features I need and had a decent price. I hope they continue that blue-green Extreme series with new intel/amd versions.

One of the good things about As Rock boards are that they support 120Hz from the HDMI port. Even the 5600G benefits from that using a 120Hz TV.

Good thing it's a personal taste. But they must be doing well as most people like their designs...
To me they are actually one of the best designed mobos in the market, like @MachineLearning said, their LiveMixer is a good example how Asrock don't mind pushing the design rules.
I'm looking forward to see how they perform, usually Asrock on AMD are one of the go to, specially with their Taichis.

Some great looking boards here, with plenty of rear I/O ports! I do, however, miss the original PG colors of black, red and silver. Looks like it's purple now. But kudos to ASRock!

I've got the B650E Taichi lite and you're right, the boards to look good but there's not a compelling reason at this point to want to upgrade just the board.

10GbE definitely should be a consumer standard at this point.

It's sad that fiber hasn't become mainstream by now. Less noise on the line, basically everything you lay now can handle 40+ GB/s with ease. Uses less power en with sfp links it's a lot easier to replace stuff. Switches become cheaper. Require less cooling easy to change from 1G to 10G if you want.

The problem is that 2,5 and 5GB aren't official standards. They are just thrown in for the sake of it. RJ45 is also old and inefficient, but they keep slapping it on. They have absolutely no issues with USB changing about a dozen times but one good change in networking and it's all difficult. They are OK with removing optical and even 5.1 from audio but going from a rj45 to an sfp+ slot is too much. I'm saying this especially because sfp+ has been around since 2009 already.

There will be. None of them are even officially out now. It's not like they've announced every board they're releasing at or around launch time.
