There are quite a few 40" monitors based on 5K x 2k IPS black panel on market right now, they all cost around $2k so you can easily source 2x 4K OLED monitors for that price.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think fingerprints all over the screen make for the ultimate color accuracy.

How could a UHD UW monitor cost a lot more than a current UHD 32" monitor say. Currently all we get is the low res 34" 3440 x 1440 with the same dpi as the old as Moses 27" 2560 x 1440. If we can offer 4K 32" we can offer say 3840 x 1680 say at a bare minimum, and it's a lower res panel, so must be cheaper to manufacture. Only high res UW are 40" 5K x 2K. 40" is way too much for my desktop. 34" is sweet spot IMO.

If we can offer 4K 32" we can offer say 3840 x 1680 say at a bare minimum, and it's a lower res panel, so must be cheaper to manufacture. Only high res UW are 40" 5K x 2K. 40" is way too much for my desktop. 34" is sweet spot IMO.

You should read up on how display panels are cut for starters.
Many monitor panels are "cut-offs" from when monitor panels are made, which is why we've ended up with all the weird ultra wide panels, as it's what they can't use to make a TV out of.

Yes, they can make custom display substrates for the panel type you want, but would anyone buy it if it was 4x the price of what we get now?
Again, the reason we ended up with 16:9 is the same reason as above, they could cut more panels out of each large sheet.

Yes, companies can make different resolution on the same size substrate, since we have 1080p, 1440p and 4k 27" displays for example, but with a nice price increase per step.
As for the specifics of what you want, I couldn't tell you exactly why we've ended up something like multiple resolutions at 27", but not at 34" or some of the other sizes.
