Usually CPU bottleneck loading the data into the game, direct storage optimisation is getting round that bottleneck.
I thought Direct Memory Access (DMA) was a way around the CPU
As usual, I'm learning here.
Too much going on; a full SSD is a lot slower than an empty one, so maybe things are actually consistent.
