MSI released a new AMD AGESA Combo PI-1.2.0.0 BIOS update today for all AMD X670E, X670, B650, and A620 motherboards. This update aims to enhance the overall user experience by addressing several key issues and new improvements. Users simply need to update the BIOS to the latest version to benefit from these enhancements.

Firstly, we have made a few enhancements to the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9000 series CPU, focusing on stability and performance bug fixes. These fixes are to ensure that users will have a smooth and reliable performance with the new CPUs. Additionally, the update includes several compatibility improvements and workaround with NVIDIA's RTX 40 Series graphics cards, especially the 4070 and 4060 GPUs, which were previously causing some instability issues.

Moreover, this BIOS update also includes general bug fixes and optimizations that contribute to the system's overall efficiency. MSI continues to prioritize user satisfaction by regularly providing updates that address issues and enhance performance. We recommend all users with AMD X670E, X670, B650, and A620 motherboards update their BIOS to the latest version to take full advantage of these improvements.

I wonder if this will allow WD NVME drives to work in the top M2 slots (that connects directly to the CPU). It is nearly a year since any of the BIOS releases for my x670E tomahawk can detect the drives from a cold boot. So disappointing.

Did it work in previous BIOS releases? Or has this one fixed it?

Yeah I've never had an issue with it. Been using that in the top slot and a Kingston SKC3000 as my boot drive in the slot next to the RAM. I did get a firmware update on the drive to version 620361WD, not sure how long that's been out.

Must be a Tomahawk issue then. No firmware updates available for my WD drives as they're up to date, and as it impacts more than just WD it is very clearly an MSI issue. Just means I'm on older BIOS that works, but AMD can't sell me a 9000 series CPU until it is fixed.

Shameful that MSI have had such a widespread issue for nearly a year.

If people had to wait 1.5 years from AMD for the fix for some 4000 series cards , then the consumers can wait another half year for the rest of the fixes. Or just use the M.2 ssd as backup disk in an nice enclosure box. Win win, you all need backup disks not always connected to the pc. See this issue as an great feature from MSI, LOOL

I run a B650 Tomahawk and WD 850X, i have no issues with the drive detection from cold boot.
