Logitech G Launches New G309 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse

The G309 LIGHTSPEED gaming mouse is POWERPLAY compatible, which allows gamers to power the G309 without an AA battery inside it if they get the Logitech G PowerPlay Wireless Charging System, which is sold separately. This reduces weight by 18 g (the weight of the alkaline battery).

Also featuring the exceedingly power-efficient HERO 25K sensor, the G309 offers over 300 hours of continuous gameplay at a 1 ms report rate in LIGHTSPEED on just one AA alkaline battery. Switch to Bluetooth mode; the battery life is over 600 hours on a single AA alkaline battery.

Why would you need to recharge a mouse that is providing continuous power via powerplay or 3+ months with a single AA battery?

The whole point is to eliminate downtime or tethering due to charging.
Also finally a Logitech mouse that uses AA. My G604 still functions but it's discontinued and there's no replacement from Logitech.

B) I hate mousepads.....notta
C) I hate having to change/throw away batteries........no way 'Jose !
D) No downtime for me, since I charge my MX-2's & 3's every 2-3 weeks or so, while I'm sleeping... nottaproblemo. And yes, I know I will eventually have to replace them, but NOT after 300-600 hrs
E) And finally, I don't do wires on my periphs/desk... not no, not heil no, but f&ck no

Agreed. At the rate these things sip power, a disposable battery is actually preferable in my opinion. The G305 uses AA batteries, btw.

Not gonna lie I have a G305 (laptop) and a G502 Lightspeed (desktop):
I prefer the 305 in a lot of ways comparatively, maybe this will be my next upgrade

Wait do the newer ones not work without it installed or something?
I don't bother launching G-Hub at all with the 305/502LS for the most part (only if playing a shooter etc).

It's just a bloated mess compared to LGS, and LGS does all it needs to on the products it supports at like 1/10th the memory footprint.

No one is forcing you to use one if you dont like them.

You dont have a choice. The internal Li-Ion battery also dies sooner or later. With the critical difference that you have to throw away your entire mouse as these are not repair friendly.
Also Lithium AA battery lasts about ~3 months based on my experience with G604.
And if you are a responsible adult you are not throwing it away. You take to recycling. We have special battery canisters where used batteries can be thrown into. They dont go to normal garbage.

That's still downtime where the mouse it tethered for charging. That's the reason i use AA as it's a 10s swap. I dont have to plan how and when to charge it or forget and wake up to an empty mouse. I had a mouse with internal battery and charging station long ago (might have been MX1000 or MX1100). The mouse became useless once the battery died.
Never again.

Neither do i when it comes to mice and headphones but there's a difference. Im ok with wires if they are not directly interfering with ergonomics. Such as keyboard wire, charger wires, data wire etc. These are all further back on the desk where they dont bother me.

Also you probably dont even realize that you have much bigger choice of mice with internal batteries compared to me who wants a gaming mouse (1000Hz+ polling) with thumb rest and AA battery. I basically have only the choice of Razer Basilisk V3 because G604 is discontinued and Razer Naga V2 has too many side buttons for my liking. Roccat Kone Air is also several years old and Turtle Beach has discontinued Roccat branding.

My guy you do realize that you will be absolutely eating through battery's if you use AA and anything above a 1000hz.

Well that's not even technically possible currently to test this as there are only a 72 mice that use 2000Hz/4000Hz/8000Hz polling and all of them use built in batteries. At 1000Hz i have to switch battery only four times a year. Roughly every 3 months.

Well that's a confidently incorrect statement...as my previous mouse literally supports 8000hz with a AA. The Viper v3 Hyper speed with the hyper polling dongle, and I can tell you from actual experience Lithium Ion's die fast..very fast. To the point I swapped it for a rechargable 8khz v3 pro because of the hassle/price.

Hmm. I used geizhals to check because they have usually great filters but for some reason selecting 2000Hz+ polling rate does not reveal any mice with AA battery option: https://geizhals.eu/?cat=mouse&xf=8565_2000

Probably because it doesn't come with the hyper polling dongle on stock. Separate purchase.

Their test will be with Lithium AA. The Viper v3 hyperspeed comes with a Lithium AA in the box.

Never tested battery life accurately, but replacing it was nearly every few days with long sessions at 8000hz. To the point I thought with the amount i'm blasting through batteries I may as well just get the v3 Pro.

No, I have never eaten through batteries and I do use 1000hz. Anything above that is a gimic for me and useless cpu churn IMO.

If I'm recharging a AA I'd rather just get a mouse I can recharge instead to be honest and have better mouse balance. Dedicated battery chargers also scare me due to one I had catching fire at night years ago. I am one of the rare who can notice the hz increase though its not just for the bigger number. Not that it makes me play better, but I can honestly notice a difference in "Feel" that I prefer. Even did a blind test to make sure it wasn't placebo haha. But yeah if the shape on 1000hz mouse is better for me I'd still take t he 1000hz, but if that same shape has 8000hz I'm taking the 8000hz personally.

That's fair, different use cases. If I'm being honest I have poor reflexes so even 1000hz is probably wasted on me lol.

FYI, I have & use a fair number of those ^^, but in the Lithium variety, just not in my rodents (Master MX 2's), which BTW, the oldest ones are still going strong for over 5 years now...
