ASRock Silently Unveils X600TM-ITX, a Thin Mini-ITX Motherboard for AMD Zen 5 CPUs

ASRock has silently unveiled the X600TM-ITX, currently the "world's only" AM5 Thin Mini-ITX motherboard designed for AMD Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" processors along with 8000 and 7000 series CPUs with a max TDP of 65 W. Its "Thin" Mini-ITX form factor (17.0 cm x 17.0 cm) stands out with a compact 25 mm I/O shield height compared to the standard 44 mm.

Unlike traditional Mini-ITX boards, the X600TM-ITX utilizes SODIMM memory (max. 96 GB of Dual DDR5 6400+) and supports onboard power supply via one DC Jack on the rear panel I/O, eliminating the need for a separate ATX PSU. This makes it an ideal choice for DIY mini PC enthusiasts. However, the board lacks PCIe slots for discrete GPUs, limiting its gaming potential. Nevertheless, the integrated graphics in AM5 processors should handle most games at lower settings, especially with higher-end CPUs.





The X600TM-ITX sports two M.2 2280 SSDs (PCIe Gen 4 x4), dual SATA ports, an M.2 2230 slot to accommodate a Wi-Fi / Bluetooth module, one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI ports (rear and internal), one LAN port, audio jack, and four USB ports. However, ASRock seems to be offering a wide range of I/O configurations, so multiple variants of this motherboard will be available.

ASRock positions the X600TM-ITX primarily for HTPC (Home Theater PC) builds, a market segment that has declined with the rise of mini PCs. This board offers greater flexibility, including future CPU upgrade options.

Good question, I can think of LH-L9a from Noctua (37 mm), Slim Silence (41.5 mm) from Gelid or ID-Cooling IS Series (30 mm)

Actually no. The Deskmini X600 (and the X300 and A300 before it) don't use a mini-itx motherboard, but an even smaller STX motherboard

CPU: 9700X, or 8700X if you want better graphics. I mean 8700G.
From what I've seen, it's not always meant to make the case as thin as the backplate suggests, but rather to leave room for other components on top of it.

Exactly, running a 7800X3D while being forced to use the IGP is an excellent plan lol

Using a AsRock mini ITX motherboard in my B550 / 5800X / RTX 3070 PC for 4 years it's been great. I'll definitely go with them again if I do a mini ITX build next time. Maybe a 9800X3D. Of course not this tiny thing there is no PCIe 4.0 GPU slot.

The Ryzen 5 8500G that was reviewed earlier this week is a perfect match for this board for a small desktop for everyday tasks or even for an overkill streaming box. I would go with a mini PC built on a mobile chip like my Minisforum UM780 XTX instead, but I see uses for this board.

Anything could work with a disabled boost and limited to 65 W, methinks.

Yeah, it doesn't have one. Most of the I/O is integrated into the CPU nowadays so a PCH is only needed for extra storage or pcie. (Well I guess it's more appropriate to say the cpu i/o connects to the various usb, sata, ethernet, ect. controllers on the board).
The "chipset" is referred to as AMD X600.

Yes. It's probably called PRO 600, not X600 - at least that's what I found on AMD's site. (Edit: Asrock lists it as X600 nevertheless.) It's interesting because the predecessors, A300 and X300, only existed in a couple OEM mini PCs or barebones, never in a retail board.

They are generally used only in a handful of cases that are designed for low profile ITX motherboards at which point they list compatable parts as a combination of the case and X board, X CPU, X cooler, OR alternatively it is for an AIO system (crApple style of the PC being embedded in the back of the monitor), at which point they also do exactly the same things as those case manufacturers, but are more stringent.

TL/DR, If you are in the market for a slim ITX motherboard, you have likely already picked out the case/AIO, already have a use in mind and already know more than I do, I can tell that you are not in the market for a slim ITX motherboard

The 8500G has been around since february tho.

I thought Strix point had too big memory bus for AM5, could be wrong tho. Maybe you're talkning about some other APU.
