Lexar Announces PLAY 2280 PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD for PlayStation 5

Nothing new here speed-wise, but at least they're offering an 8TB model soon, but that together with silly "PS5/Play" labeling, is gonna make it hella mucho $$, probably ~$650-700 to start, based on the price of the 4TB stated above....

Doesn't everyone run SN850/SN850X with heatsinks on their PS5s by now? This hardware is 2-3 years late to the game with nothing meaningful added. PCIe 5 is out now.

I don't have a PS5, but I do run an 850x in my mini-me box, with only a graphene strip over the controller & a small fan, and it does just fine at 45-50c

In the EU, all 8TB drives are much more expensive per terabyte than 4TB ones. There may be exceptions but they have QVO written on them. Is it different in the US?

Well, with most drives, you can generally get 2x the capacity for about 1.75x the price of the smaller unit, but that doesn't always hold true on launch day, but will usually fall in line shortly thereafter
