is this true?
Half true. It heavily depends on the indivdual board.

USB4 is offered by an ASM4242 controller via PCIe4.0x4, but it always seems to be linked to the CPU instead of the Chipset, so you lose 4 lanes of the CPU that have been used for an M.2-slot on almost all X670/B650-boards.
On X870E and X870 you always have a PCIe5.0x16 and a M.2 with PCIe5.0x4 from the CPU, same as with X670E and B650E. Any additional M.2 with PCIe5.0x4 now comes from reducing lanes of the x16 to x8. Many new board offer two additional M.2 by giving you that option, which was much rarer on X670/B650.

The rest should be the same as X670E and B650E, but you don't see any new board with more than 4xSATA (there were few like that with X670 already!) and most of the X870 only have one additional PCIe-slot and one M.2 from the Chipset. Since X870/B650(E) only has 8 lanes PCIe4.0 and 4 lanes PCIe3.0, which can be turned into SATA-Ports, but need at least two lanes for 2.5GbE and WiFi, you can't even have 4xSATA, one M.2 PCIe4.0x4 and one PCIe4.0x4-slot at the same time. For more, you need X870E/X670(E).

In my opinion it doesn't make much sense to have more than one NVMe-SSD linked to the chipset either way, since the connection between CPU and chipset is only PCIe4.0x4 as well.

Well, someone didn't read the previous info all too well.

X870 confusingly ist not like X670E or X670, but is B650E with forced USB4
X870E = X670E+USB4, X870 = B650E+USB4, B850 = B650 and B840 = A620. There is nothing like X670 without PCIe5.0 or USB4 anymore.

In what way, then, is X870E far superior? It's just the same old chipset with forced USB4 via AMS4242 onboard. Most boards now offer WiFi7 instead of WiFi6(E), but very few offer Realtek 5GbE instead of 2.5GbE.

ASM4242 is always connected to Gen4x4 from the CPU, which previously have been used for a M.2 slot, often Gen4x4, but sometimes Gen5x4 like the first one. So you lose 4 lanes Gen5 for something that doesn't neer them.

The boards that have been shown have mostly been X870, so only one chip, and fewer X870E with two chips than X670(E). Lane sharing is even more extreme now an there rarely are more than two PCIe-Slots or more than two independent M.2,
In my book B650E is superior to X670 anyway, so thats fine for me. I'll take PCIe 5.0 x16 for the GPU over "more lanes" any day of the week.

X870E and X870 boards will be improved in many areas compared to 600 series, you will see on Sep 30. There will be 10GbE boards as well.

What's the point, these days you can get max 200 MHz more.
Depends on CPU. I don't expect you to understand. You are not a poweruser. Boards like this, are not aimed at you.

What for, exactly? There still isn't any PCIe5.0-GPU and even when there'll be, you will only notice the difference when we're on AM6.

I don't need to see on Sep 30, I already saw. It's quite impossible for them to be much improved since it's literally the same just with USB. What I saw from Gigabyte and Asus I consider even worse in most cases, since most board have even less PCIe, M.2 and SATA and more lane sharing, but very few offer 5GbE. 10GbE is reserved for the same boards that had it as X670E

If it's true then pointless, I will buy X670E instead.
I don't know for certain but that's how the news post reads to me.
"and four SATA III ports.
For graphics, the board offers two PCIe Gen 5.0 slots."

There are additional changes per the post, like memory capacity, power delivery, and some other stuff.

The truth is that the Godlike is no different than the Ace Max. Yeah you might get a 10GB connection but other than that there is no reason to spend an extra $1000 to say you have the best MB.

What an arrogant comment.
For what? For the high-end GPUs coming eventually.

Do I want to use a 5090/6090 in PCIe 4.0 mode? Nope

Arrogant? Nah, people with low to mid-end systems bashing high-end hardware because its "not needed" is just a result of them not being able to afford it in the first place. Nothing new here. Has nothing to do with being arrogant it is just reality.

$1500 for the same performance as a $200 motherboard.
patently, objectably false.
I have a Godlike so Im biased but what a strange comment.
Enjoy that terrible power delivery, that horrible ripple, that terrible ram tuning, and that lack of an eClock generator on a $200 mobo.
You must run stock settings in which case, sure sure, totally the same perf.

extra thousand? How much do you think a Godlike goes for? I got mine from MSI store, out-the-door-delivered for $1044. The Ace Max was $770 out the door... That's only ~ $250 more.
You're only off by 400%.

Where I live the Godlike is $1549 and the Ace Max is as low as $649. Those are in Canadian dollars. There is no Ace Max for X870E though only the Carbon, so far. Since the boards have the exact same amount of lanes and I am pretty sure have the same density, they cannot be that far apart in terms of performance. The Godlike is pure PC porn. By the way if you are proud of your choice enjoy it. I do agree with the $200 comment though as flexibility is what you pay for today with MBs.

Fair enough.
I just wanted something a little better than Carbon so I splurged on the Godlike.
Wouldnt necessarily recommend that, it's doing the goofy. But the board is as good as it gets right now at least. All these boards are too high now.

So, only 2 full length PCIe, one of its electrical X8. Not like some of previous "godlike" with 3-4 full length PCIe.
Problem with these high end boards, 90% of the budget goes on VRMs that arent needed.

Godlike's is certainly that, but, they have a lot of cool things going on. The magnetized snap-off screen that has almost all of the needed plugs hidden, said screen also kicks out a QR code when you have an error overclocking to help you out. A lot of it's build budget went to the PCB, too- it's 10-layer and very high server grade material. 10-layers is insane, it's the only x870e board with 10.
It comes with 5 m.2 slots (2 pcie5) but also an add in card with 2 more gen 5 slots.
My only wish was that it was a 1DPC board but it is the best ram tuning board out in x870e until or if an Apex drops.

All 3 slots are linked to the CPU. IMO that's the biggest benefit.
What was no full broadcast was that the Ace and Unify line up before it also gave you that. The best was the X570S Ace Max and X570 Unify were actually wired at x8 on the 3rd slot as well.
