Thermal Grizzly Holding GmbH presents the Intel Mycro Direct-Die RGB PRO V1, an optimized version of the Intel Mycro Direct-Die water cooler. In addition to a new design, the Pro version offers one thing above all: better cooling performance! Various changes to the microfin structure of the base plate, combined with a revised water flow, enable up to 6 degrees Celsius lower processor temperatures under full load.

The optimized cooling channel slot width on the surface of the Intel Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1's copper base plate allows for 43 percent more cooling fins compared to the standard version. Additionally, a specially developed jet plate reduces the flow resistance of the cooler, enabling the Intel Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 to achieve a higher flow rate in liters per minute at the same pump speed as the Intel Mycro Direct-Die V1. This increased flow means that the pump can either be turned down to reduce noise or used to dissipate more waste heat at the same noise level.

Like all high-performance products from Thermal Grizzly, the Intel Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 is designed to be used with liquid metal between the CPU die and CPU cooler. Liquid metal offers the best possible heat transfer from the silicon of the die to the copper of the cooler. For this purpose, the copper cooler is nickel-plated so that the gallium-based liquid metal does not diffuse into the copper. The barrier layer in the form of nickel ensures that multiple applications of liquid metal are generally not necessary.

The design of the Intel Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 includes an anodized aluminum cover with RGB LED lighting underneath. These illuminate the tempered acrylic glass and can be controlled via the 3-pin ARGB header (+5V/DATA/GND) on the mainboard. The Intel Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 is connected to the custom water cooling circuit via an input and output with G1/4-inch threads.

After milling, the acrylic glass is subjected to an annealing process that relieves it of internal stresses. This ensures that no stress cracks form in the acrylic glass, even after extended use, as can occur with hardened acrylic glass.

The bottom line is that the Intel Mycro Direct-Die RGB PRO V1 can improve temperatures by up to 6 degrees Celsius, depending on the usual factors such as ambient temperature, water cooling system configuration, and the chip itself. Now available in the Thermal Grizzly online store and from our sales partners, the Intel Mycro Direct-Die RGB PRO V1 is completely manufactured, assembled, and packaged at our production site in Hohen Neuendorf, Brandenburg, and is therefore 100 percent "Made in Germany."

Hmmmmm Thermal Grizzly going to start making water-cooling components?? That could be interesting, though I have only seen them do the occasional one off.

No mention, but thermal grizzly site shows the Pro version is optimized for Intel LGA 1700, 12th, 13th, and Intel 14th Gen CPUs.

Apparently some personnel from EKWB went to TG. Which makes me wonder if there ain't some of their IP involved here.

This EKWB wasn't paying people as finances were bad so a lot of them bolted to TG and NOCTUA.

I doubt there is anything complex enough involved in a waterblock that warrents an IP claim tbh.
Plastic with screw holes and a piece of metal with some fins.....

Depends on whether the elevated point in the cold plate matches the die. And if the Z-height will be equal. Hope you can buy upgrade parts if there is changes for Arrow Lake and LGA 1800.

Glad to see this evolution, but not particularly surprising since simple/efficient has been the goal since they introduced the first one. It'll be interesting to see if they expand offerings at all with the new employees in that area.

Direct die as in delidded? With liquid metal flowing around in there? Kinda risky... and exciting!

Can we get a benchmark review of this, please?

I like the non-RGB version, personally. This block has excellent reviews and is the best cooler I have seen, especially at this price point. Is anyone using this block?

I don't have lga 1700 cpu but my 10900kf was delidded and has been running direct die for 2.5 years without issue (including 2 times water loop maintenance).
Temp was reduced by 7c when delidded alone with my old waterblock Koolance 380i. Combining with direct die+liquid metal and I got 13c improvement which is huge imo).

No mention, but thermal grizzly site shows the Pro version is optimized for Intel LGA 1700, 12th, 13th, and Intel 14th Gen CPUs.
Interesting. Trying Direct die for the first time but I’m trying to find the best one there is. Seems to be difficult to find a review on Direct die coolers with comparisons.
Looks like the most recent revision of the Thermal Grizzly one is the way to go from what I've seen.
