No pricings? Maybe someone noticed how popular this card is on used market.

I wonder if this is part of what they meant by gaining marketshare. The chip is also made by GloFo, wonder whether that had anything to do with it.

…I wasn’t even aware that there is still any Polaris/Ellesmere production ongoing. Or did Biostar found some unused chips?
Seriously, this is wild.

Sad to say, but I still have a RX 580 and it works great for most older games like WoW and f2p titles like LoL and WT. Not max graphics by any degree, but still visually pleasant.

Now "crafted to dominate the mid-range market" (in 2017 maybe) and "outstanding performance" is a lot of marketing BS in 2024.

Only a decade late. Not bad.

Edit: I didn't know Polaris GPUs were still being made.

So, 8 GB VRAM was already a standard back then in 2016-2017 mainstream GPUs (even RX 480 from half of 2016 had 8 GB memory). Yet, today we have mainstream GPUs (RX 7700, RTX 4070) with 10 or 12 GB memory. Pathetic. 16 GB should have been a minimum for such cards nowadays, especially when we see that any new game can easily eat up to 16-20 GB of memory.

Anyway, this Biostar's RX 580 release is hilarious, if it's true. Better late than never, hahah. MSRP? $120? I'd understand 16 GB special version, which might be useful for some low cost high video memory usage scenarios, but much better choice would be RX 7600 XT 16 GB.

I don't think anyone has anything against the RX 580 per se, but like you said, releasing one in 2024 is a bit questionable.

Lol, I don't understand their aim with this release, if they were looking for a cheap 1080p, why not 7600 or 6600, I believe RX 580 will not be supported by AMD soon!

Ive come to the conclusion that most of BIOSTAR content on TPU is ragebait.
Motherboard announcements 12-24 months out of season, GPU announcements apparently 5+ years out of season.
