Cytrence, a leading innovator in automation and robotic tooling, proudly announces the official launch of Cytrence Kiwi, the first advanced KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) device over USB 3. Designed to revolutionize how engineers, IT professionals, and tech enthusiasts manage their multi-device setups, Kiwi offers unmatched performance and flexibility, establishing itself as truly one-of-a-kind in the industry.

Kiwi offers a host of innovative features, including:
  • Cross-Device Control: Use your laptop or PC's keyboard and mouse to control another device seamlessly.
  • Ultra-fast Video Performance over USB 3 SuperSpeed
  • Compact Design: Weighing only 25 grams and fitting into the palm of your hand, Kiwi is portable and easy to use in any environment.

Kiwi enables seamless control of multiple systems using a single laptop or a host PC, drastically improving cross-device workflow efficiency. Unlike traditional KVM over IP, Remote Desktop, or KVM switches, Kiwi leverages the SuperSpeed capabilities of USB 3, allowing users to handle on-site devices and graphics-intensive applications with ease. Whether you're working with servers, mini-PCs, single-board computers, or embedded systems, Cytrence Kiwi is the tool to keep you ahead.

"With Cytrence Kiwi, we set out to solve a problem faced by software developers, hardware engineers, IT professionals, and tech enthusiasts everywhere—the need to conveniently operate devices near their desk, host stations, or on-the-go without compromising native performance," said Hui, Founder of Cytrence. "Kiwi is the product we wish we had years ago. It removes the hassle of clunky setups. Our goal is to streamline your multi-device workflow, helping you work far more efficiently with Kiwi."

I recently had a chance to test out the Kiwi device. It’s tiny yet amazing!

The gadget comes with two USB-C ports. In the early access pack I received, I got a USB-C to USB-A cable. Kiwi’s site mentions they’re including a USB-C to USB-C cable in the final box too.

"Ultra-fast Video Performance over USB 3 SuperSpeed"

The "SuperSpeed" bus provides for a transfer mode at a nominal rate of 5.0 Gbit/s. That's the video bandwidth of this KVM? So this is good for 1080p. No DP?

Kiwi supports 1080p at 60 FPS and includes an HDMI port. You'll need an adapter to use DisplayPort.

Help me out here, was the market really screaming for this? What is the use case where a normal KVM is not suitable?

For me, Kiwi is the perfect companion for my Raspberry Pi 5. I don't need a display, a keyboard and mouse for the Pi any more. And I can take my Pi with me anywhere and not worry about how to connect it to a display.

Compared to traditional KVMs, Kiwi's is more portable, can be set up easily and more straightforward to use. You don't need to press a button to switch computers. You switch to another window on your laptop to use the other computer. And you can always keep an eye on the other computer since its screen is just another window on your laptop.

Compared to remote IP based KVM, I think Kiwi has better performance, requires no setup at all and is less expensive.

And I find Kiwi Pro's capability to take screenshots of a computer or even record the screen output as video very useful.
