Corsair announced today the availability of the 9000D RGB AIRFLOW case, an update to the massively popular OBSIDIAN 1000D Super-Tower case. Widely known as the ultimate case for custom water-cooling builds, the 9000D improves upon its predecessor in expansion, cooling, and buildability features across the board, while simultaneously incorporating a refreshed industrial design aesthetic.
"The 9000D builds on the successful base of the 1000D to deliver a modern feature set with even more cooling potential and expansion capability" said Mitch Podlaha, head of the Case Product Marketing team at Corsair. "We've developed a new variable fan mounting system named InfiniRail that allows you to cool your build with any fan or radiator setup for the ultimate flexibility and performance potential. One of my favorite features is that front panel I/O has a built-in USB 3.2 hub that gives you full use of the USB Type-C and USB Type-A ports using just a single internal USB Type-E port for data and a PSU connector for power."
[Editor's note: Our in-depth review of the Corsair 9000D is now live]
The cavernous interior supports an extensive range of cooling configurations, accommodating up to 18x 120 mm, 7x 140 mm, or 4x 200 mm fans. The front and top panels can mount up to dual 480 mm radiators side-by-side, the side of the case can fit a 360 mm, and the rear can mount a 240 mm radiator, all of which can be mounted in a push-pull configuration depending on the radiator thickness and mount location chosen. The staggering cooling capacity offers multi-system, multi-GPU builders unparalleled flexibility in their preferred cooling solutions. The Corsair InfiniRail mounting system makes fan installation straightforward, allowing users to simply slide the rails to fit their desired fan diameter and position them over their hottest components, rather than relying on pre-drilled fan mounts.
An included iCUE LINK System Hub controls the RGB front I/O and is ready to expand your ecosystem by managing up to 23 additional iCUE LINK devices, ranging from fans and coolers to the premium Hydro X Series custom cooling family of products. The award-winning iCUE LINK ecosystem is expandable and allows users to connect fans, pumps, AIO coolers, and other devices to monitor and control temperatures, fan speeds, lighting, and even on-product LCD screens (sold separately).
The 9000D RGB Airflow has outstanding cooling potential and features an eye-opening amount of space for other hardware. The primary motherboard tray can accommodate ATX, mATX, and even server-sized SSI-CEB and SSI-EEB dual processor boards, and eight PCI Express expansion slots fit GPUs or other devices up to 400 mm long. A second, horizontally-oriented Mini ITX motherboard tray can accommodate a full-sized dual-slot GPU or other PCI Express device, such as an Elgato capture card. For storage, the 9000D swallows up to six 2.5" SSDs and five 3.5" HDDs in a removable hard drive cage. To power all this hardware, the 9000D can simultaneously accommodate two power supplies, one ATX up to 225 mm long, and one SFX or SFX-L size, with a dizzying number of cable routing tie-downs, doubleshot rubber grommets, and an entire cavern of space to tuck cables away for a clean and tidy build.
Builder Friendly is an Understatement.
To ensure that all this hardware and cooling can be easily installed and accessed by users, the 9000D features dual tool-free swing-out doors, our QuikTurn fan screws that dramatically reduce fan install times, more than enough space to work behind the motherboard tray with over 60 mm of clearance, and a host of included accessories to make each build even easier, like cable management ties and a reusable screw box that can be stored in the case itself if desired. All this in a sturdy, steel-framed case that measures 696 x 698 x 307 mm. The 9000D RGB AIRFLOW stands atop the competition in nearly every measure.
