GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards, and hardware solutions, is proud to announce the launch of X3D Turbo Mode, a revolutionary BIOS feature designed to maximize gaming performance on X870E, X870, and 600 series motherboards with AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D and Ryzen 9000 series processors.

GIGABYTE X3D Turbo Mode is a cutting-edge BIOS feature that pushes the boundaries of gaming performance. Empirical testing demonstrates that this innovative BIOS feature delivers tangible benefits to gamers, with performance increases of up to 35% for incoming Ryzen 9000 X3D processors and an astounding 20% for Ryzen 9000 non-X3D processors. Moreover, X3D Turbo Mode's unique optimization parameters allow even Ryzen 9000 non-X3D processors to achieve similar gaming performance levels as their Ryzen X3D counterparts. Experience smoother gameplay, higher frame rates, and reduced latency by GIGABYTE's BIOS wizardry-X3D Turbo Mode.

The X3D Turbo Mode will be integrated with AMD AGESA 1.2.0.2a into the latest BETA BIOS release, and will be synchronized with AORUS AI SNATCH in the near future. Update the latest BIOS and unlock your CPU's hidden potential for gaming with GIGABYTE's X3D Turbo Mode now.

Well I joke…
At least they do not say “AI powered” but instead “wizardry-X3D Turbo Mode.”

Yeah, can't wait to get another BETA BIOS for my Gigabyte boards...

It would actually be nice to finally release one of the three current beta versions as a finished thing. That would be wizardry enough for me. I want my high voltage mode back for my DIMMs... You know, for the frames in my games.

35% performance increase! Versus what?! I'm struggling to imagine what they're comparing to make this claim, base clocks & base JEDEC speed for RAM vs a little CPU frequency bump & tuned af RAM?

Turbo is back.
Special shoutout to the English Braille that misspells turbo twice
Like, why do you have special bumps on those buttons if they're identical...? So you can accidentally reset when you want turbo? The mysteries of human design

I honestly cant wait for the PCs that have a special button to 'AI the thing' ... oh wait. We have that

My prediction is that this will provide 1 to 3% increase in performance. +20% in an specific benchmark with an specific set of settings.

So, how much of the processor's lifetime is this feature gonna burn up the moment it's turned on? Because AMD doesn't leave that much performance on the table since years ago, and something's gotta give for a 20-35% perf increase. Thermals, voltages, something is gonna get fucked.

How is this implemented? My speculation is that is related to 9000 x3d series being overclockable rumor. But they say it is not only 3d specific.

One way to do it, could be by decreasing the speed of the clock, making the system believe that 1 second is actually 1.35 seconds.

I suspect this is just enabling the increased TDP of 9 series nonX3D chips from 65w to 105w and enabling EXPo in 1 click. Let's see how this plays out given the 7800X3D fiasco.

After the burnout fiasco that happened with the X3D chips last year, I would take anything that motherboards vendors say with a grain of salt because they were mostly at fault for being too liberal with the voltage settings in the BIOSes. I am hoping that AMD has learned from last year's fiasco and has stricter control over the voltage parameters that will be used in the BIOS settings.

It must be more then just a TDP increase conisdering the 7800x3d is supposed to get better aswell

I wonder what this does. Compared to jedec 4800 even a tuned 6400 would at best gain 15%. Using CO may offer a few percent, but that cant be a present since silicone quality varies. Bclk is out of the question. I really wonder which optimizations they do.

I updated bios and enabled x3d boost and it disables smt on 7800x3d, this looks dumb

Hello everyone, 7800X3D user here as well!

I've also updated the BIOS to the new AGESA 1.2.0.2a version, on a Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX motherboard, all my BIOS settings got reset to (presumably factory) defaults - including but not limited to CPU curve optimizer, PPT limit, AMD EXPO for memory, as well as custom fan curves! I urge all those who updated to also check their BIOS settings!
Enabled X3D Turbo in BIOS to try it out and noticed much lower Cinebench score than my previous, and my system was only displaying 8 available CPU cores, no threads! Only upside I noticed was much lower temperatures of 67-70 degrees versus the otherwise-familiar 81-85 under full load!
I've disabled X3D Turbo at the time of this writing and the system displays 8 cores and 16 threads as it should be. Cinebench score also closely resembles that of previous tests. Temperatures under full load are also as they were before.

Haven't tested any games yet.

I'm pretty sure BIOS settings getting reset after a firmware update is normal behavior (at least every machine I ever updated the BIOS for got its BIOS setting reset to default after the update), so nothing new there.

Only upside I noticed was much lower temperatures of 67-70 degrees versus the otherwise-familiar 81-85 under full load!
That's sort of interesting though, that SMT has such an impact in temperatures.

If it's similar to W1zzard's benchmark results, you likely wouldn't have noticed much change except in minimum FPS
