I know the price for the 7800X3D is higher now, but why would it get a higher MSRP than that one had? Nothing points to this one being insanely faster.
What do you think would happen with the 7800X3D prices when going out of stock while being so popular?

You do know that most of the other Zen5 models sells like crap, right? AMD wants to sell loads of these, and that won't happen with such prices. It's not like they're even that expensive to make.

The price for the non-3D models have been adjusted down since the introduction of 3D, not the other way around. (I skipped 5700X and 7700 deliberately, those weren't part of the first launches, and besides the 9700X have gotten the 105 W treatment now.)

The dual CCD 3D's might be a different thing, tho. They might be more expensive this time around, but that's still months away.

Guys, your falling for the con that Intel, AMD, nVidia have and that are all STILL been playing, a lot of you need to stop doing that. For exmple In the Uk, the 7800X3D released in 2022 for £450, when you factor inflation since then, thats only £496. So At most, the 9800X3D absolutly CANNOT be more than £496, but realistically needs to be a lot less, as in the 9700X is only £309 right now.

So the break down should be roughly -

Zen5 -

• 9700X - £309 - this will hit £300 or less due to the 7700x
• 9800X3D - £350
• 9900X - £399
• 9900X3D - £450
• 9950X - £599 - this is already over priced, just like the 9700x was, needs to be more like £500
• 9950X3D - £650 - same as above, needs to be more like £550/600

Zen4 -

• 7700X - £250 - this matches the 9700X in every metric.
• 7800X3D - £350 - ignore the currently artifically inflated pricing of £420,
• 7900X - £320
• 7900X3D - £399
• 7950X - £440
• 7950X3D - £570

Not to mention they're out of stock. A fact that most FUD spreaders seem to ignore. Scalpers can't make their business run properly if there's enough chips available.

AMD launched 9000 which made no sense compared to 7000 that was widely available and chepaer. AMD doesn't want to repeat that mistake so the 7800X3D is leaving the market, for now or forever.

Supply runs dry, prices go up because it's popular, but no, it must be AMD preparing for its most insane price hike in history.

I wonder if AMD changed their initial goals that was getting higher margin and are really going to take decision that lead to higher market share. The fact that they release the better selling CPU that is cheaper first speak loudly to me.

If they want to turn the corner and stop to be always the runner up and really become the market leader, they have to change strategy. They are no longer a company on the verge of bankruptcy.

Latest performance leaks showed only 11% improvement, so you could be right. Which is also why I think it will be priced at $449 and 7800x3d discontinued.

Unless X3D brings 30%+ performance that's simply not going to happen.

That's 7950X3D / 9950X3D price and one can simply enable prefer cache in the BIOS to get within 1-2% of the single CCD chip.

The price for the 7800X3D has temporarily spiked to around $500 (currently sitting at 473 on amazon), that's not what the market is willing to pay as on ongoing basis from here on out. The price will likely drop back to where it was previously, $350 - $320.

A huge reason for the 7800X3D's and 5800X3D's popularity is their pricing. Some people seem to be vastly over-estimating what most of the market is willing to pay for an 8-core CPU based on nothing more than surge pricing that represents less than 1% of the product's pricing history.

I have a 7800X3D and $500 would have been a dealbreaker, let lone $600 or $650. That's just nuts. I could have gotten a 7950X3D for $430 on sale. Heck $450 is high for the 8 core X3D part IMO, that price already has the "fastest gaming CPU" tax baked in. I would absolutely buy the 16 core CPU or go Intel if they significantly raise prices without massive performance increases.

I agree, my comfort zone ends at around 400,-... and then it has to be a top end CPU, which just so happens to be the case. I had hoped the X3D would drop to 300,- eventually but neh, even the 5800X3D never really got there proper. That is, locally in Netherlands.

It really depends on the game, many games actually the opposite comes true, where the lows are about the same but the averages are +30% higher (hogwarts legacy etc.). I do hope the 9800x3d to have better lows than the 7800x3d on account of the more powerful core.

Well that is why I have a 7900X3D. People bash me all the time when I remind them that my other CCD runs up to 5.7 Ghz. I know what you mean about 30% higher averages too and having 128MB of L3 is nice when half of it is Vcache but 64mb is there for the Non X3d chips. I went from 32GB 5200 40 something RAM to 32GB 6000 30 Team ($129 Canadian) for a great price. I even bought a 7800X3d and used it for 2 weeks but those 4 cores extra threads and extra Cache matter more than you would think. I love the other innovations like SAM and Rebar that add another 20-30% to performance. To me that is part of the secret of X3D chips. It uses so much GPU resources that system RAM means nothing. I could probably get away with 16GB of DRAM. Where I feel my CPU shines is in Strategy Games like TWWH3, Rogue Trader and BG3. Or City Builders like City Skylines 2.

Someone is going to mention latency and I will ask right now if people actually think they can feel 80 nanoseconds.

I myeslf will be getting the 9900X3D when it comes out. Hopefully the narrative bashes it again and I can get a CPU for $400 less than the 9950X3D and $50 more than the 9800X3D. That was the price difference between the 7000 series where I live. I am confident that the 9800X3D will be $600 Canadian or more. BTW the MSI X870E Godlike is $1899 (Cheaper than the X670E version) and alreadcy sold out at my main brick and mortar. There are also some killer deals on B650 and X870 MBs.
