AMD continues to expand the AM4 platform with new processors, despite having already released 145 AM4 SKUs over the past nine years. According to Videocardz, citing a post from @momomo_us on the X platform, AMD plans to launch two new ones: the Ryzen 5 5600T and 5600XT. The leak was later confirmed on ASUS and MSI websites, with these 6-core CPUs appearing on lists of supported motherboards. The MSI page confirms that (at least) the 5600T is a Vermeer processor without integrated graphics. Additionally, AMD intends to make the Ryzen 3 5300G available to consumers as a boxed retail product; until now, this model has been available exclusively for OEM markets since its launch in 2021.

Going into more detail, these new SKUs have the following specifications: The Ryzen 5 5600XT features a 6-core design, 32 MB L3 cache, 65 W TDP, and a base frequency of 3.8 GHz. The Ryzen 5 5600T also has a 6-core design, 32 MB L3 cache, and 65 W TDP, but with a lower base frequency of 3.5 GHz. The Ryzen 3 5300G comes with a 4-core design, 8 MB L3 cache, 65 W TDP, a base frequency of 4 GHz, and is equipped with 6CU scale core graphics (no information regarding turbo clocks for any of these SKUs yet). As mentioned, the current lineup for the AM4 platform includes 145 SKUs, with the Ryzen 5000 series alone already having 20 models. While AMD's dedication to supporting the AM4 platform is admirable, a simple question arises: who will buy or distinguish these new AM4 SKUs from such a vast offering?

They just discontinued the 5800X3D, their most popular product in the last decade, and now they're releasing these? I can't figure out AMD's strategy sometimes.

Edit: The 5300G should have been released to the public right from the start. It would have been a great HTPC chip.

Now you can pair a 5600 XT with your 5600 XT. Brilliant! :D

The "extension' of socket AM4 is mostly dumping old silicon that doesnt have a market anymore. Which isnt a BAD thing, per se, but when I hear "extension" I'd be more interested in zen 4 on AM4 or something.

At least we finally got a quad core? Shame most of the motherboards are not made anymore.

Are they trying to brake a record or something? It doesn't make sense coming out with new models that are in fact the old models.
And at the same time they are facing out the only models that make sense, the X3D, meaning the 5800X3D.

Easy reason: 5700X3D. Easier to produce, easier to sell, not that big of a performance gap for those still on AM4 to complain.

I want more SKUs! The 5600 XT runs at 3.8 GHz, The 5600 X at 3.7, and the 5600 T at 3.5. What about the 3.6 GHz part? I'm not happy with this poor choice. :shadedshu: /s

This feels like artificial launch to basically proclaim "see how long we support the platform". The CPU lineup on AM4 is already convoluted and the new SKUs - granted, even if they are now-retail previously OEM ones - do not help the situation and at the same time do not add anything useful either.

I ended up buying a i5 12400f with mobo that was cheaper then the AMD CPU alone at the time. A quad core ryzen would have helped change that.

And there's only so much capacity at TSMC for die stacking, which is then distributed among Zen 3, Zen 4 and Zen 5, including the server CPUs.

Literally same. AMD CPUs are insane lately.

Also no idea who besides Zen 1 owners needs these castrated AM4 chips when 12100F systems are sometimes cheaper than a CPU alone and provide as much value for 98% users. Also much easier to cool. 5700X3D is basically the only "new" AM4 SKU worth consideration IMO.

Man, they just continue to disappoint. Who cares about low performance chips. Like I am going to stick one of those on my 500 dollar motherboard

As a side note, 5800X3D is up over 500 beaver bucks on ebay buy it now lol.. I paid like 650 for mine new when they were new..

Where I'm at the pricing is 12100F>5600>12400F. If you want the first non-quadcore chip an AM4 chip is your best bet.
Once you consider that people are going to dump 5700X3D/5800X3D in a year or so it's just a much better investment.
Going Intel will force you to buy a very cheap motherboard that's most definitely going to struggle running a high-power chip.
I wonder if you just snug a local once in a lifetime deal because I haven't seen that happen (yet?).

Because a quad-core in 2024 (12100) will offer you very marginal savings compared to a hex-core for an already compromised system.
Unless you couldn't give a single shit about longevity, multi-core performance or gaming a 12100F is a rather poor recommendation.

That isn't to say Intel is a poor choice. The 12100 and 12400 make for a neat basic home-office or NAS setup and the 13400/13500 are quite nice if you want some more productivity oomph. Especially considering you can use dirt cheap DDR4 with them.
The 8500G looks nice, but is somewhat compromised because of its 2+4 configuration and the 8600G becomes a tough sell once you include DDR5 prices.

I love AM4. My gaming PC is a blocked 5800x3d and blocked 6950xt in a single loop. I could of went to AM5 but honestly I don't need to. I run all current titles and new releases and early access titles I test with highest settings, 1440 and NO upscaling. Native baby. I run Cyberpunk with highest settings AND I run the RT at low, of course no Path Tracing. But maxed out with low RT and I get 70-90 fps steady. Why would I go to AM5, what unless I get the 7800x3d with it I might get 20 more FPS. Thats not an upgrade. New Mobo, New CPU, and New Ram for a possibility of maybe a 15- 20 fps. Nah. I'll tell you what my next investment is going to be. I am going to get a 4090, block it, and run it with the 5800x3d and show how good a combo that is for gaming. People say you're on last gen blah blah, shows you they have no idea wtf they are talking about lmao. Unless they get the 7900xt or xtx, the 7800xt-7700xt-7600xt ain't going to beat me, but It's old right lol. Anyway, kind of went on a spiel lol. They are still making CPU's for AM4, NEW chips. (I hope they can just give me 1 more X3D chip of a higher tier than the 5800x3d) Like a 5900X3D! Oh man. I plan on being on this AM4 until it can't do what I want it to do. That'll be years. Believe that, but if they introduced a 5900X3D, a 16 core 32 thread set up. Based on the 5900xt. 2xCCD-1xIOD set up. Two CCDs with 8 cores each and also share the L3 Cache between them, add 32mb more of cache and you have 96mb of cache and that's on just one of the sets of 8 cores, 96mb on the other ccx. That's 192mb total of L3 Cache and BAM! It's pretty much there for the taking. Would be a fire ass chip. !"AM4"-"AM4"-"AM4"! Best CPU platform ever made, still being made. AM4 4Life! Drew from BeanieBro's.

multi-core performance or gaming a 12100F is a rather poor recommendation
Typo. I meant 12400F.
However, 12100F is now so low cost it's actually insane value. 50 USD second-hand sometimes. Even a basically inferior Ryzen 3600 does cost more. Especially considering RAM and cooling spendings (don't forget that Zen 2 is atrocious with cheap RAM and is allergic to some brands in particular).
And if your target is 60 FPS all these CPUs are fine and will be fine for a couple years at least. By the time they become non-fine you either slot a 5700X3D or a 12700/13600/14600 in (the latter is also likely to be cheaper) and get a decent boost in gaming.

For productivity... why are we talking productivity on lowest tier CPUs? Want MT, get a 5950X or something.

As far as I know, the 3D V-cache is manufactured separately, so if one is defective, they just don't put it on top of a CPU.

The 5600 is cheaper now, that the platform is EOL. But not a year ago, when they were unavailable and the cheapest AMD chip was $200.
Once you consider that people are going to dump 5700X3D/5800X3D in a year or so it's just a much better investment.
If you are going to "invest", then buy an AM5 setup. The price of used 5800x3d is making the 7800x3d look like a good deal.

Most people who invest in older platforms dont waste money on frequent CPU upgrades. That's squarely the realm of people with money.
Going Intel will force you to buy a very cheap motherboard that's most definitely going to struggle running a high-power chip.
Intel isnt some magic wizard forcing you to buy crap boards.
I wonder if you just snug a local once in a lifetime deal because I haven't seen that happen (yet?).
Nope. Up until about half a year ago, AMD chips were going for a bare minimum of $200 for 6 cores, or $180 if you wanted a garbage mobile reject with half the cache. Intel went on sale frequently, and 12 series i5s were frequently available for $120 with sale code.

AM4 mobos are also insanely expensive for what's left, far more then a year ago.

And still no worthy successor to the 3300X on AM4:

I doubt the 5300G would be faster in games. What a bummer :ohwell:

As far as I know, the 3D V-cache is manufactured separately, so if one is defective, they just don't put it on top of a CPU.
Yeah I forgot about that, so this might be leftover B2s.

3300X was gone as soon as it was out of stock lol. I do no recall ever seeing it replenished..
