AYANEO makes a plethora of commendable products, including eGPU docks. The brand's newest AG01 Starship Graphics Dock will soon join the family, with a shipping date set for the end of November. The dock sports a fascinating design which, unfortunately, might be a tad too ostentatious for some.

The unit is powered by the RDNA 3-based Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics card. It is by no means the fastest kid on the block, but is still a very decent GPU, and should provide ample performance for most gaming and creative tasks. But that's not all - as the name suggests, the AG01 Starship also functions as a dock with a respectable array of ports including a USB 4 port with PD, an RJ 45 Gigabit LAN port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, along with an M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 slot for storage.

Moreover, video output capabilities are taken care of by dual DisplayPort 2.0 connectors, as well as dual HDMI 2.1 ports. The included OCuLink port is an excellent addition, allowing for speeds up to 64 Gbps thanks to its PCIe 4.0x4 interface. However, there is a catch. When the OCuLink port is utilized, the dock functionality of the AG01 Starship will not be possible. For that purpose, the slower USB 4 connection has to be used.

As already mentioned, the AG01 Starship Graphics Dock from AYANEO will commence shipping towards the end of next month. With a price tag of $599, the eGPU is priced reasonably enough, but potential customers are encouraged to be mindful of the fact that future-generation GPUs from AMD are just around the corner, if the early-2025 launch rumors are taken to be true.

It's good to see these OCuLink eGPU prices dropping a bit, but this is still about twice what I'd pay.

Design is a bit too busy for me, but a heck of a lot better than what it could have been.

I haven't been in this market, but why take this over a dedicated EGPU enclosure that you can upgrade? Is it solely price or are there features this has? EDIT: I guess it's all the docking stuff?

What is it with Chinese companies and absolutely hideous designs that look like they were cooked up by a twelve-year-old?

Not sure what the problem is, I mean obviously this is also meant to appeal to a younger audience and apart from that it just reminds me of a Star Wars spaceship tbh.

Sadly, still uses JHL7440 for the "USB4" port.

If I was going to lug around an eGPU I'd want it to be a beefy desktop model, not a cutdown mobile version :kookoo:

Considering it's an all-in-one super dock of sorts, I could see the use cases to having one. Moreso if working from a barebones laptop. I do wish the GPU was a stronger mobile one from AMD, but I'm guessing there were possible limitations on balancing the bandwidth between all the dock features as well as the GPU.

It'd be nice to see a version that uses both USB4 and OCULink somehow; utilizing the USB4 part for all the dock extras and OCULink for the GPU/display side when both are plugged in.

AYA has always sold the appearance, and both the GPD G1 and OnexGPU are 7800mxT. They have been selling for over a year now, and now they are all looking at the OnexGPU 2nd generation 7800m and SGW4080m. It's too late for AYA to release them now

Seems to be a cool gadget, but too expensive for what it offers.
