Intel "Arrow Lake-S" Core Ultra 200S Sells Zero Units at German Retailer

The launch of Intel's "Arrow Lake-S" Core Ultra 200S series of desktop processors has been a bit of a disappointment for gamers, given a slight regression in the new generation's gaming performance. While excelling in productivity tasks, these CPUs are not seemingly the top choice for gamers. According to data from Mindfactory, one of Germany's largest retailers, Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs didn't account for even one Intel-powered CPU sale since the October 24 launch. This is a massive contradiction to US-based retailers like Amazon and Newegg, which sold out their Arrow Lake stock swiftly. However, the German retailer paints a different picture.

In terms of units sold, there were 730 AMD CPU units sold, while only 40 Intel. AMD accounted for 94.81% of that week's sales, with an average selling price of 267 Euros and Intel's average selling price of 388 Euros per unit. It is worth pointing out that this information is only based on one week of sales and should not be a general guide for Intel Arrow Lake sales in Germany. We are still left to see how many units will be sold in the coming weeks, especially with the upcoming holiday season. This is the problem of selling purely on marketing and basing your customer base purely on fans who buy every single new gen. One flop of a generation, and you're out of buyers altogether.

To be fair, Mindfactory is where you go when you need AMD products. It has a tight cooperation with AMD on both marketing in-site and on deals and coupons for AMD and AMD related products.
For some years now Mindfactory has basically served as AMD's statistics hat trick when it comes to "sales in Europe".

All that said, im still not surprised.

To be fair, Mindfactory is where you go when you need AMD products.

Probably true, but that doesn't change the fact that they have sold much more Intel CPU's per month than that, historically.

5 % Intel CPU's is low even for that store, it used to be three or four times as much.

Also, Zen5 isn't really considered a hit in sales so far AFAIK, so that doesn't really explain the difference either. Let's see what happens next week.

Meanwhile at Amzns "Best Sellers in Computer CPU Processors", the only Arrow is at #47 on a top 100 list.

That would be an interesting explanation. It would make the article sound like "McDonalds reportedly sold zero Core Ultra CPUs on launch day".

Like I said in the last post, Amzn US has low sales as well, it's not popular there either. Not much more research needed.

Honestly it sounds like a paper launch. My local stores are still listing all Ultra CPUs on preorder until November 15th, so if "sold" means "shipped out the door", then that might explain it. That being said, out of so many people around, and with fanboys not anywhere close to extinct, I'd think at least one fool would go and preorder one.

Looking at my local Microcenter, they don't even have the 285K listed. The other 2 models are not sold out. Kinda wonder if supply is just not all that great yet. It wasn't that long ago that we were hearing about poor yields for Meteor Lake, though that was an Intel-fab issue. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean that TSMC is working miracles though.

In UK Overclockers and Scan have in stock 245K, 245KF and 265K also available on Amazon. They are advertising them on the radio. I can't remember when was the last time I've heard CPU ad. They are hosting some Intel AI entertainment event in London today and tomorrow. It seams they are spending a lot of cash on marketing while potential buyers are not impressed.

Thank you for the sources! I forgot about that rearview comment. Even though the conventional wisdom around here is that Pat is doing a good job at Intel, I would argue the opposite. Pat is the worst Intel CEO and most likely the last. That’s saying a lot given the crap his predecessors threw out daily.

Me neither, not yet anyway. Since he's an engineer I'm going to go out on a limb and say he could be worse.

L1's Intel Gaudi 3 preview looked impressive, more so than the latest Xeon's, but those are different markets.

Maybe it was intended. Burning the bridge to have the full stakeholders commitment to 5N4Y and getting billions from US government. The actual problem is that 5N4Y hasn't delivered much.
