Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2024 fourth quarter ended September 28, 2024. The Company posted quarterly revenue of $94.9 billion, up 6 percent year over year, and quarterly diluted earnings per share of $0.97. Diluted earnings per share was $1.64,1 up 12 percent year over year when excluding the one-time charge recognized during the fourth quarter of 2024 related to the impact of the reversal of the European General Court's State Aid decision.

"Today Apple is reporting a new September quarter revenue record of $94.9 billion, up 6 percent from a year ago," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "During the quarter, we were excited to announce our best products yet, with the all-new iPhone 16 lineup, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and remarkable features for hearing health and sleep apnea detection. And this week, we released our first set of features for Apple Intelligence, which sets a new standard for privacy in AI and supercharges our lineup heading into the holiday season."

"Our record business performance during the September quarter drove nearly $27 billion in operating cash flow, allowing us to return over $29 billion to our shareholders," said Luca Maestri, Apple's CFO. "We are very pleased that our active installed base of devices reached a new all-time high across all products and all geographic segments, thanks to our high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty."

Apple's board of directors has declared a cash dividend of $0.25 per share of the Company's common stock. The dividend is payable on November 14, 2024 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on November 11, 2024.

Apple will provide live streaming of its Q4 2024 financial results conference call beginning at 2:00 p.m. PT on October 31, 2024 at apple.com/investor/earnings-call. The webcast will be available for replay for approximately two weeks thereafter.

I've come to the realisation that Apple owes Google for its continued existence. It might be that Apple pays so much to Google for this very fact.

I've always painted the Web as the cornerstone of the iPod/iPhone resuscitation process. But really, the Web itself was nearly conquered by M$. M$ was well on its way to picking the winners there too. Namely itself. So Google winning the search engine wars gave everyone some breathing room. Time for the smartphone to be born.

Apple is only a live because of the investment from "M$".

It wasn't a move that allowed Apple to do more than stay on life support. Same reason Intel avoided squashing AMD. Nothing would have changed without A) the Web, and B) Google.

Apple survived thanks to a Microsoft investment, They grew big thanks to the hip iPod which allowed them to create a phone that needed apps which made it grow gigantic.

google Has little todo with with apples survival and rise.
as the advertisement company it self was still fighting for dominance with yahoo and aol when the critical stuff happened.

The iPod wouldn't have existed without, first the Web, and second Google to keep the Web open. None of the others were of significance. M$ was almost completely in control with Internet Explorer in excess of 95% penetration. If that was maintained, M$ would dictate who made the money.

And if you keep going back far enough everything only ‘live’ because of God and the Big Bang.

Of course this kind of thinking is ludicrous. MS only ‘live’ because IBM was a MSDOS customer. All companies only ‘live’ because consumers like you and me buy their products.

Allow companies to be responsible for their own success and don’t try and rationalize said success based on your view towards the company.

Apple was about to go bankrupt as in kaput no more apple in the late nineties.

you should look at the timeline again and browser market share has nothing to do with who controls the internet.
Chrome only became a major browser in 2012 way after Apple became the giant it is today even later than the EU forced microsoft to offer a browser choice in windows.

And it was turned around by a new take on the PC (iBook, iMac and bondi blue PowerPC), the iPod and Mac OS X. Microsoft had nothing to do with it.

The ‘investment’ seems to be a lawsuit settlement. You can’t exactly save a company if you were actively working to destroy it.

Like I already said, that intentionally kept Apple on life support. The same reason why Intel never squashed AMD. It had no part in the changes that took place later.

Chrome helped later on, sure. But that's only the end result.

Smartphones and open standards were where the changes took place. Websites stopped focusing purely on Internet Explorer and began following the actual W3C standards. None of that would've occurred if M$ was completely in control. M$ would've, and probably did, published its own set of libraries for using only Internet Explorer.

The EU moves were too late and not substantial to change any direction. Sure, good for citizens now. And I hope the EU keeps at it. USA needs to follow suit.

Google is responsible for providing the open playing field and standards based transition.

No, the advertisement firm isn't, they embraced open standards to further their malignant overtake of the internet. They gave us the tools for free where we built our own gprison and dug our own ggraves with.
but that was a 2 decades later than when microsoft gave up on ""controling"" the internet

Google existed from the late 1990's. They do have a lot more history than just Chrome. My point is centred around those earlier years. During and following the time when M$ had Apple dangling on life support.
