TechPowerUp today released the latest version of NVCleanstall, our nifty little utility that lets you download and install NVIDIA GeForce drivers with a much higher level of customization than NVIDIA's installer permits. This utility lets you disable (or enable) several components in the GeForce driver package that you can't find in the NVIDIA installer's "Custom install" page, including important settings such as telemetry. Version 1.17.0 introduces several improvements and fixed. To begin with, driver signature rebuild not working on Windows 11 24H2 has been fixed. The startup page now has a "what's new" link that takes you to the driver change-log from the Release Notes. We fixed an issue where the "automatically click driver unsigned warning" option was not working under certain conditions.

The messaging in the "Finished" page of NVCleanstall has been fixed. The driver dropdown now indicates "Windows 10/11" instead of simply "Windows 10." We improved the "build package" screen with a tip that the "-y" argument allows unattended installation. The overall interface has been improved to help with systems that have very low screen resolution. The "experimental" label has been removed from the GitHub-based NVENC Video Encoding Session Limit Patch in the options list. A rare error encountered when unpacking installers has been fixed.

The change-log follows.
  • Fixed driver signature rebuild not working on Windows 11 24H2
  • Added "What's new" link to startup page, which links to driver update changelog
  • Fixed "automatically click driver unsigned warning" sometimes not working
  • Improved messaging on "Finished" page
  • Driver version dropdown now shows Windows "10/11" instead of "10"
  • Added a note to the "build package" output that "-y" allows unattended install
  • Improved GUI layout on systems with very low screen resolution
  • Removed "experimental" flag from NVENC Video Encoding Session Limit Patch
  • Fixed rare error during installer unpacking

I don't know if it's because of NVCleanstall or W11 24h2, but I have flickering in fullscreen videos using DX11, to temporarily correct it I have changed the output in VLC and Web Browser to DX9.

Does it happen to anyone else?

EDIT:

Another way to solve it, since I always disabled the MPO, it seems to be for now not working well (not sure if by NVCleanstall or by W11 24H2), so just delete in the path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm
“OverlayTestMode” with value ‘00000005’.
deleting it corrects it and it no longer flickering with DX11.

Maybe that's the reason why it's broken?
Yes, I always deactivated it, because it is supposed to be malfunctioning, but in this case I had to reactivate it to solve the flickering. Is rare.

I've never had to disable it. How is it malfunctioning.

It was because of some problems with nvidia.
Since then I always checked the ‘Disable Multiplane Overlay (MPO)’ checkbox in NVCleanstall, and it always worked fine, except now. That's why I thought the problem could be W11 24H2, or some NVCleanstall update that had been affected.
But now it works perfectly, so no problems. :)

Does anyone know if there's still a need to disable MPO? I can't even remember why it's a thing in the first place!

Telemetry is useful for detecting bugs and fixing them later, and also for the company to stop developing things that people don't use. It shouldn't be disabled.

Software developers don't care what kind of videos and photos you see on the Internet. They just want to know data that can help them improve their software, detect bugs and incompatibilities with other software and fix them later, that kind of thing.

They don't care if you like listening to Celine Dion, if you like women or not, if you watch Korean dramas; they don't care about that.

Telemetry is very useful for all software developers and also for us, the users of their software.
