They really should market these harder to console players if there's going to be no thought of PC users. It's OP for consoles but outdated for PC before release.

DP doesn't have royalties. The issue seems to be a lack of display controllers with DP 2.1, which is a bit weird.

Should've been something like why pay the hdmi royalties but not pay for DP 2.1 upgrade.

You think that could be just more of a demand issue than supply since there's no consumer hardware that can use DP80 yet?

There doesn't seem to be any demand at all, my guess is the display makers are waiting for GPUs with support.
