We have already witnessed a multitude of rumors surrounding the Legion Go S gaming handheld. The product is expected to boast an AMD Ryzen Z2 chip, which, unfortunately, will be based on the older Zen 3+ architecture and features a Radeon 680M iGPU. The system will include 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory, and an 8-inch, 1200p IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. As for pricing, the Legion Go S is expected to cost around €600, and most likely cheaper outside of Europe, putting it in the ballpark of the Steam Deck OLED. Now, leaker Evan Blass has shared a few more images of the device, further revealing a few more details.

Firstly, the image reveals the colorways that the Legion Go S will be available in: black and white. Interestingly, the image also reveals what appears to be a button that is dedicated for Steam, which, so far, we have only seen in the Steam Deck. As VideoCardz notes, there is no concrete information at the moment regarding the purpose of the button. It is possible that the Legion Go S might run SteamOS, although the button might also exist to simply open up Steam. Unfortunately, the leak gives us no further information regarding the product. The Legion Go S is expected to see the light of day at CES 2025, which, luckily for us, happens to be just around the corner.

120Hz IPS on a handheld that sits between the Steam Deck APU and the 780M lineup? What're they thinking?

Cut the 120 to 60 and workshop the cost of switching to an equivalent size 900p OLED. For what this offers, the ASUS ROG Ally is right there and will likely be better value than this thing's launch price. What a travesty. I would consider this if they managed to offer a barebones (no-storage, no-charger, Bring-Your-Own-OS) version for ~$280. At least then I can scrape by on sourcing my own 2230-size drive for a total price I can justify.

It's just there so everyone will speculate (unsuccessfully) about what it's for, when in fact it is a dummy button that will do........wait for it, wait for it........................absolutely friggin NUTHIN......... at least not until you pay to either unlock it or pay for a subscription to use it (just make sure you don't let your credit card expire)

Wow, a whole 2 colors (not friggin "colorways") to choose from....that's sooooo revolutionary I simply can't stand it, hehehe :D

AMD Ryzen Z2 will most likely be a re-brand or slightly-cut-down variant of 6800U, like how the Z1 Extreme is just 7840U without an NPU and "unplugged state" (battery-saving lower performance when unplugged from AC power, e.g. docked mode vs handheld mode), hence the 8-cores and 680M. Yet another way to get rid of older Rembrandt 6nm inventory.

Unless it has 6-cores and 680M, then that would be semi-new.

Still plenty fast compared to the steam deck, and generally these hand helds starve for GPU power and battery, nothing else (aside from the Steam deck which also has a weak CPU).

..but still less efficient at 15w compared to the Deck, if you have to run this at 20-30w to get any advantages out of the more powerful silicon, then battery life on this thing will be very poor, seeing as it only has a slightly larger battery than the Deck.

Maybe they have increased battery size, Asus also increased battery size dramatically on ROG Ally X, so I kinda expect it here. Aside, this is a weaker APU than in ROG Ally so it could be fine even with weaker battery.

Is this an AI generated response? Its a Steam button bud. Have you ever paid for Steam? Or are you just blurting random nonsense to make posts now

Those two extra buttons are far too similar to the ones on the Steam Deck. One to bring up the Steam Deck menu and the other to bring up the quick system menu.

That can only mean SteamOS since the quick system menu isn't available for Windows.

Neither, I was merely making fun of the statement claiming that "nobody has any concrete info as to what the button does", which is total BS, as SOMEBODY out there knows, but either just can't reveal it yet due to an NDA, or they just wanna fuel up the hype (most likely) leading up to the next PR blurb about "Ah, now we finally know what it is for" :D

As for paying for steam, why would I, since I don't do gamz, and even if I did, I would never, ever pay $600 for a handheld toi pad thing to play them on, regardless of brand, OS, or form factor (as opposed to building a regular pc/gamin rig) ?

I know you've been here long enough & have read enough of my posts to know this, so I'm not sure what made you question my reason for posting my poke-fun-at-the-gamrz comment(s), but if that makes you happy, so be it, hehehe :D
