Welcome to the second to last full week of the year of 2024 and hopefully the last week in the office for most of you. This week's major release revolves around Xenomorphs, but unfortunately requires a VR-headset, but if you've been nice, maybe Santa will bring you one? The rest of this week's new releases turns you into an animal detective, being in charge of a pirate ship, being a young car mechanic in Poland in the 90's, a viking adventure in the netherworld and finally trying to solve some late night crimes in the Victorian era.

Alien: Rogue Incursion / This week's major release / Thursday 19 December / VR Game
Experience the universe of the Alien films like never before: in terrifyingly immersive single-player VR. An all-new action-horror entry into the classic franchise, Alien: Rogue Incursion transforms you into Zula Hendricks-the ex-Colonial Marine hellbent on exposing Weyland-Yutani's black-site experiments-on an extremely dangerous mission to the uncharted planet Purdan. With her synth companion Davis 01 for guidance, Zula must infiltrate the infested Gemini Exoplanet Solutions research facility and survive the ever-present threat of the most cunning Xenomorphs ever encountered, with both skilled stealth and serious firepower at her disposal. And when the threat she discovers has extinction-level consequences, Zula suddenly finds herself with humanity's fate on her shoulders. Steam link

On Your Tail / Monday 16 December
A cozy detective adventure where you play as a vacation-bound writer who stumbles upon an idyllic town plagued by an enigmatic thief. Crack the case in this charming seaside town, build relationships, and unravel secrets in a world full of quirky characters and heartwarming stories. Steam link

Flint: Treasure of Oblivion / Tuesday 17 December
Assisted by his friend Billy Bones and his crew, Captain Flint sets sail for a mysterious treasure. If the call of the unknown galvanizes him, he doesn't yet suspect this adventure will set him free. Dive into the world of piracy bordering on fantasy of Flint: Treasure of Oblivion. Immerse yourself into a rich well-documented and exciting universe thanks to comic-book styled narration and tactical turn-based combat. Steam link

OHV / Wednesday 18 December / Early Access
90's Poland. Potholed roads. 15% unemployment rate. Eurodance music.
And you, a simple country boy who loves to sit in the garage after nights. Steam link

Leif's Adventure: Netherworld Hero / Thursday 19 December
Join Leif and his loyal sidekick Ghost as they combine their strengths to overcome the sinister forces of the Netherworld. In this story-driven, co-op action-adventure inspired by Nordic folklore, friendship proves to be the greatest power of all. Steam link

The Midnight Crimes / Friday 20 December
Point-&-click detective adventure game, you are a retired private detective investigating the case of a missing child while facing his own past demons. Midnight Cove, the wicked Victorian city you live in, features semi-open world mechanics, side-quests, pets, character relationships and much more. Steam link

Need the sequel to Alien: Isolation and hopefully, get a remake/remaster of the original with Ray-Tracing, I already found Isolations atmosphere foreboding, I want more. :D

if you like alien or aliens in general check out aliens dark descent…. It is probably the best to date to stay true to the alien environment and material though not sure if you like the tactics game

I will never understand VR only games, its cutting out a good 98% of the market from buying your game.

They nailed that game better than anything after first part, including Prometheus. That's a rare exception among any movie based games.

On Your Tail looks like my kind of game. Those sparse environments and low res textures give me a Nintendo 64 vibe. But I find the combination of 3D assets and comic style UI really attractive. And I'm not even into furry fandom

My second pick is The Midnight Crimes, I like its Victorian setting. The cel-shaded aesthetics and the detective character remind me strongly of The Wolf among Us, a game I really liked.

Oh, and that 1990s Polish mechanic game looks like it was really made in the 90s on a small budget. So it goes well with the premise!

If possible I would like to revisit whether you have further opened the door to outside awareness of prominent releases with a high amount of relevance to the larger gaming world. Last this came up, solicited conversation was growing verbally unfriendly due to the example of Ys. To inclusion of something outside your stated "10 minutes on Steam directly beforehand" formula which is, dare I say, less than all encompassing. I have a feeling standards could still be upheld directing attention towards a few pinpricks of light outside the highly programmed selections artificially chosen for you to sift through by a prominent sales vehicle.

Aliens Fire Team is actually my favourite MMO. It is PVE and if you don't follow and work with your team you will die as Missions can be up to 40 minutes long. Especially when you are looking for a Queen.

Sorry, what? I can read all the words you wrote, but I really don't get your point.

I don't think I ever said I spend 10 minutes on steam before I write this, as that is simply not the case. What I did state was that I use multiple sources to make this list. In fact, I don't even know how I could make this by spending 10 minutes on steam.

If you're not happy with my weekly lists, you're welcome to take over doing this, just email the bossman and ask first.
That way, you can cover a 100 games every week if you want.

Alternatively, you can ask for a refund of your subscription fee.

The headline and screenshots from OHV reminds me of My Summer Car, or perhaps Mon Bazou but Polish. Probably with a little more freedom of action, if the trailer is to be trusted.

Could be kinda interesting.
