Has a reason why PS5 sells better, actually multiple, they also didn't divide with a weaker Xbox Series S (most unnecessary new gen console ever IMO), no such nonsense with Sony, the other obviously being game related and PR I guess.
Sony has always had more compelling Content.

Bad for MS but good for the consumer. I like it.
Until you see the price of the Newest Games. Of course they have created Game Pass to give people the impression that It is good.

Depends, if the intent here is to cloud-ify all the things, that ain't good for anyone but MS.

Not that they'll succeed, but k.

System Name Very old, but all I've got ®
Processor So old, you don't wanna know... Really!
We're finally at a point where console exclusivity is finally hurting their bottom line. What a time to be alive.

Console manufacturers releasing on all platforms....games that were pulled off steam to be hosted on the publishers own launcher now back on steam where new titles from said publisher will also be released. What an insane time to be alive.
This should've happened much sooner.
For Xbox maybe. If you think that PS will ever release Gran Turismo on PC you forget that Sony are from the same Country as Nintendo.
GT, meh... I would rather play some proper racing sim instead. But Drive Club... That thing looked so life-like, so realistic. I would prefer that over GT any time. But alas, the dev team has been fired ages ago.
And poof there goes Xbox, the console. It is now just a glorified Windows PC, without Windows.
And Windows is a gimped phone/console. Gimped by MS themselves. Each version feels like it cannot be worse any further. But it does.
Good, it’s ridiculous that console exclusives were ever a thing to begin with. Never made business sense to me to cutoff potentially millions of customers.

I thought bribery in the business world was a big no-no, because that’s essentially what it is.
Bribery is one of pillars of any business. Especially that big, corporate one. The one who has bigger and longer "connections" and does this quicker, wins. Not the fair efforts, as many falsely assume.
Since a long time, since they introduced "Xbox" on Windows, in the latest, since they introduced Game Pass. Years. We are all basically using better Xboxes.
The Xbox on PC began with first DX, and did many bad during GFWL abomination. And it must extinct. MS should have make a better unified crossplatform system, ages ago, and name it properly and neutrally.
The whole console/PC wars been caused mostly by the MS themselves. They humiliate console users with worse performance and abilities/options, and humiliate the PC users, by advertising their Xbox consoles, as "superior" gaming platform. It baffles, for why it took so long for people of both camps to suffer and tolerate this attitunde.
Some of the best games were initially on console, and exclusives too. It was what sold the console and what drove innovation due to competition.

What everyone here is parading around is gonna eventually cause harm to them. Stagnation of game development has somewhat already happened and with any lack of competition, it's gonna drive it further to the ground with nothing but Medicare titles.

Yes, unpopular take. But it is true. Sony, Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft had banger games that drove sale of their systems.
There's no issue at all. There's no need in exclusivity, at all. These console maker-publishers can easilly survive as superior game makers. Just make great, interesting games, and people will prefer them over bad games. So simple.

Some of the greatest and notable console games have been made during the PS3/X360. But think, for how much bigger could be their expansion/spread among the gamers, if it could be available on PC. And I don't even mention, backlash and rejection, that was caused by the sole reasoning of accusing PC gamers of "pirating", that console makers used as an excuse to keep their games exclusivity. Thus many people lost their hope in playing those exclusive games, and went on.

And there's no way to sell the same games to the same console users, over and over again. Especially, when the console market doesn't expand, due to country restriction.
The hardware has never been more similar between the two, it's in fact the different software (APIs) which increase development time.
Yeah... nope... the console diversity, not only between each other, but between concoles and PC, has gone since AMD Jaguar. And earlier they both X360 and PS3 were based on Cell processor. And that could somewhat justify the difficulty of porting games from consoles to PC (which BTW often still were developed/made on PC, but for consoles). But as soon, as both consoles and PC got AMD x86 µarch, there were no excuse.

One of examples, that, the Frostbite and Bad Company 1, was made for X360 and PS3, but on PC. It was already done within x86 environment, but ported to consoles. Still, years later, it didn't come to PC, ever. And again, there's no excuse.

removing exclusivity is always good for the consumer. given how bad MS's games have been you can pay $15 and access all of them for a month, beat all of them, and move on. MS loses money consumer spends less, and doesnt need an xbox.

That's subjective. With the PS2 and 3 year, but starting with the 4 sony started getting lackluster, and for the last decade it's been generic action adventure games (god of war, horizon, TLOU) and endless remasters and remakes. Meanwhile, tons of their IP lay dormant.

Even now, there's only a dozen or so exclusive PS5 titles, and fewer then half of those could be considered good, and that number will continue to fall as stellar blade and spider man 2 get PC releases.

Who pays full price? the glory of PC is that sales are frequently a thing, and without console exclusivity you'll be able to get their good games (if they exist) on sale on PC instead.

Your definition of exclusivity is soon going to be in need of an update. Forget hardware exclusivity. Enter service exclusivity.

Every MS game put on gamepass has also been released on Steam and other digital storefronts for purchase. AFAIK there are no gamepass exclusives.

Subjective enough that PS has always outsold Xbox. Is there an action Game with better controls than Devil may Cry?

Subjectively enough that sony has yet to outsell the PS2 despite access to a far larger gaming community today compared to 2000.

Yet another subjective. LOL.

Yeah, subjectively, there are action games with better controls. Everyone can come up with a list.

Remember the 2005-2007 timeframe? Nearly any tech “expert” was writing editorials about the imminent death of PC gaming. They said it was a dodo and would soon be extinct because consoles were the future. I said “nope” back then and have maintained that belief.

eh who cares lol this is like Sony with their timed exclusives its just bad for gamers. this is a big hoorah for gamers in general only difference is that those Xbox titles coming to PlayStation wont be apart of their shit ass gamepass knockoff. I need sony to let go of the Resident Evil VR titles its not serving Capcom any good staying on a platform like that where nobody has a PSVR2.

You really do not understand the history of the Console industry. What sells a console? Specs? No software. <Snip>
Also price and working out of the box.

Let's not forget that consoles have always been loss leaders; used to get the hardware into homes and then combined with high-quality games to help sell the consoles. It also helped that they always worked out of the box; very minimal setup, and no need to jump through hoops to make games (and later, other media) work. And for awhile, they had a sort of closed ecosystem that was similar to Apple's; allowing them to control the quality of games and ensure it always worked on console, even if later versions on PC required some extra work. Until the costly PS5 Pro, it was often difficult to get a PC with similar performance to said console during each respective generation.

In Playstation's case, they also had additional value. The PS1 was also generally considered a good CD player thanks to its custom audio processor, relative to similarly priced CD players. The PS2 was a cheap DVD player; and hell, there was a period where PS2s were being bought more to play DVDs than to play games. The PS3 was a cheap BD player and had minor multimedia capabilities, what with being able to put photos, music, and videos onto its hard drive. The PS4 kept the focus on games, but also quietly improved the multimedia capabilities and added more streaming options. The PS5 offers relatively high-end visuals (even if capped at 30fps or 60fps) and smoother loading thanks to its dedicated hardware allowing for extremely fast asset streaming. The PS Vita was the first viable mobile gaming console that allowed for then-high-end mobile gaming on the go thanks to its 2G cellular network capability (and something no other dedicated gaming portable has yet to copy).

Outside of Playstation; Dreamcast offered actual internet browser capabilities and basic internet gaming and voice chat. X360 was a cheap HD DVD player. X1 initially sold with a surprisingly high-end spatial tracking camera and temporarily inspired a more active gamer lifestyle via dance games. Gameboy allowed for gaming on the go.

The Xbox on PC began with first DX,
No, PC being just like the Xbox, with nearly same usability started a few years ago with the Xbox app and not 1 month or 1 year earlier. The PC having DirectX does not mean it always was a Xbox. To the contrary, it kinda means the Xbox was always just a repurposed PC, well, aside from the Xbox360 which really used IBM CPU's which has nothing to do with PC.
