ASUS at the 2025 International CES showed off some of the first NUC desktops that meet Microsoft Copilot+ AI PC logo requirements. The new ASUS NUC 14 Pro AI measures 130 mm x 130 mm x 34 mm. It runs an Intel Core Ultra 200V series "Lunar Lake" processor. Depending on the processor model, you get 16 GB or 32 GB of hardwired LPDDR5X memory. You also get the processor's Xe2 "Battlemage" iGPU. Its NPU provides up to 45 AI TOPS of performance, meeting Copilot+ requirements. Storage is care of an M.2-2280 slot with NVMe Gen 4 x4 wiring. I/O options include two 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 4 ports including DisplayPort passthrough, and networking that includes Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7.

ASUS won't (or probably can't use the "NUC" moniker with AMD processors), and so there's the ExpertCenter PN54 for those who want essentially the same device, but with an AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processor. This mini PC has the same exact dimensions as the NUC 14 Pro AI, and is powered by a Ryzen AI 300 "Strix Point" processor, with options going all the way up to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This chip includes the XDNA 2 NPU with 50 AI TOPS on tap, which means it meets Microsoft Copilot+ AI PC logo requirements. It also features the Radeon 870M RDNA 3.5 graphics with 16 CU. The chip uses standard dual-channel DDR5-5600 using SODIMMs. Storage includes an M.2-2280 slot with Gen 4 x4 wiring. In place of Thunderbolt 4, you get a couple of USB4 ports with 40 Gbps bandwidth and DP passthrough. Comms include Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7, just like on its Intel-powered sibling.

Next up, is the NUC 14 Pro AI+ and the NUC 15 Pro+. The NUC 14 Pro AI+ is driven by a Core Ultra 200V "Lunar Lake" mobile processor, with up to 4P+4E cores. This chip is wired to up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 on-package memory. The iGPU is based on Xe2 architecture, and comes with up to 8 Xe cores. The storage option is an M.2-2280 with Gen 4 wiring. The NPU puts out 45 AI TOPS, so this box meets Copilot+ requirements. Networking includes 2.5 GbE, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7. Some models come with a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports. The body of the NUC features an E-Ink display.

The NUC 15 Pro+ is a slightly larger mini PC, which is based on an Intel Core Ultra 200 "Arrow Lake-H" vPro processor, making this a commercial desktop. The chip comes with an up to 6P+8E+2LP core count, and an iGPU based on the Xe-LPG architecture, with 8 Xe cores. The NPU only puts out 16 TOPS, and so misses out on Copilot+. The processor is wired to conventional DDR5 SODIMM slots, with support for up to 96 GB of memory, including support for CSODIMMs at speeds of up to DDR5-6400. The M.2-2280 slot supports Gen 5 speeds. There's Thunderbolt 4. Networking options include 1 GbE, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7.

I may buy one of these to replace my aging Ivy Bridge system purely because I find Lunar Lake such a fascinating product.

These are basically handhelds in a different form factor. This should be exciting. I wonder what the price difference will be between the 2 variants?

Yep, I hope it is somewhat reasonably priced.

It is Asus. I would not hold my breath. I just don't want the same class of CPU to have a 1 or $200 difference because one says Intel or AMD.

Past NUCs have been rather pricey (max 150-200 euro discount over a similar specced laptop), but somewhat reasonable. I hope they continue that trend.

It's a bit tricky to get the pricing for Asus' NUC models and even if you are a customer you need to request a quote from the company to purchase it. We were informed that the model we were sent costs around $1100

Yeah..... that ain't worth buying anymore when you can get a M4 Mac Mini (32GB RAM and 2TB external SSD) that destroys it in every way for the same price
