They aren't, these prices include VAT/sales tax.

If you look at the price for Asus RTX 5080 Prime OC which is a very basic model, it is actually very close to the price for the Nvidia Founders Edition 5080.

Don't forget that European stores are legally required to put VAT (sales tax) in the sticker price.
As this store is based in Finland, that sales tax is 25.5%.

You're right... the screenshot actually shows 979 euro, which is ~$999 USD. The article should probably be updated to reflect this.

Probably because the article states "announcement revealed an MSRP of €1229" when the MSRP is €979 and with VAT it's €1229.

But I do wish that everywhere showed taxes built into the price.

4080 Super is like 1300-1600€+ atm here in Finland... I was expecting even higher prices for 5000-series.

$2000 for 5090 should be ~2500€ here, but like with last gen, unobtanium at those prices, most likely. It will cost close to 2900-3100€. Mark my words.

Btw, cheapest Intel B580 is like 330€.

I'm so lucky I don't have to upgrade.

A gpu which costs over a £1000 and has just 16gb of vram is just a no go for me I'm afraid. Which is a shame as I was hoping to be buying a 24gb 5080 this time around.

I think we'll be waiting until next year before we see a 24GB 5080, as part of the "Super" refresh.

I got the 3080 for €794 (gigabyte windforce OC)
So the 5000 edition is €435 more expensive. Which is an increase of more than 50%
And that considering its still an 16GB card for a non RGB version....

I'll agree with you on the condition you also start blaming the government that asks 26% upfront (and how I wish it was only 26%, I myself am gonna have to pay around 100% extra)

no the MSRP in the rest of the world is always with VAT in it. If you order literally from said companies you will get MSRP prices with VAT included. That the US can't even agree on having 1 VAT price in the country is not the rest of the worlds problem it's an US problem. The only time when VAT isn't added on products is when the business mainly operates with other businesses then it becomes excluded VAT and you will see that on the pages.

In the UK we call it "ex VAT" - (Excluding VAT)
