Newegg Commerce, Inc., a global leader in e-commerce for technology products, experienced an overwhelming response to the highly anticipated launch of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, with inventory selling out within minutes. Gaming enthusiasts, content creators, system integrators, and PC builders rushed to secure the first batch of the latest AI-powered graphics technology, driving demand to unprecedented levels and cementing the RTX 50 Series as one of the most sought-after GPU launches in history.

"The response to the NVIDIA RTX 50 Series has been extraordinary," said Jim Tseng, VP of Product Management at Newegg. "The overwhelming demand reaffirms the gaming and PC community's enthusiasm for the very best technology. For our customers who have not yet been able to secure a GPU, we're committed to working with NVIDIA and our AIB (Add-In Board) partners to ensure future restocks and continued availability." Tseng continued, "Getting the latest cards into our customers is our passion, and we're proud to also offer a GPU trade-in program that makes it more affordable for customers to upgrade to the latest generation of video cards."

The 50 Series Launch on Newegg
The RTX 50 Series introduces groundbreaking advancements in real-time ray tracing, AI upscaling with DLSS 4, and next-generation gaming performance, setting a new benchmark for high-fidelity visuals and ultra-smooth frame rates. Newegg's platform witnessed a surge in user engagement as customers eagerly sought to purchase the best gaming and content creating GPUs on the planet.

Key Launch Highlights:
  • Product Page Domination: The RTX 50 Series accounted for 18 of Newegg's top 25 most-visited product pages, demonstrating its immense popularity.
  • Top Search Trends: 9 of the top 10 search queries on Newegg were related to the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090.
  • Surging Interest: Searches for "5080" and "5090" increased 25 times compared to the previous week.
  • Traffic Surge: Newegg experienced an 8-10x increase in site traffic during the launch window.
  • Fast Sellout: The RTX 50 Series sold out entirely within 20 minutes, with most inventory claimed in just 5 minutes.
  • Diverse Product Selection: Newegg offered a wide range of RTX 50 Series GPUs from leading manufacturers, including ASUS, Gigabyte, AORUS, MSI, PNY, and ZOTAC. Additionally, pre-built gaming desktops featuring RTX 50 Series GPUs from brands such as ABS, iBUYPOWER, AVGPC, Cobratype, Skytech, and Yeyian were available, providing multiple high-performance options for gamers.

Newegg will release more inventory in real-time as stock becomes available. Customers are encouraged to follow Newegg on social media for the latest restock alerts: www.x.com/newegg.

Newegg GPU Trade-In Program
Newegg's GPU Trade-In Program, launched in September 2023, offers customers a unique opportunity to trade in their eligible pre-owned graphics cards and CPUs. Thousands of GPUs have already been repurposed and installed into other customers' desktop PCs through this program, promoting sustainability and affordability in gaming and content creation. More information on the Newegg Trade-In Program can be found here.

Newegg's ABS NVIDIA RTX 50 Series PCs
Newegg's premier in-house brand, ABS (Advanced Battlestations), also unveiled its latest lineup of high-performance gaming PCs powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs. Designed for gamers, creators, and AI enthusiasts, ABS systems combine expert craftsmanship with state-of-the-art hardware, ensuring unparalleled speed, efficiency, and reliability. ABS RTX 50 Series PCs can be found here.

"We build each ABS PC here in California with the latest and greatest hardware Newegg has to offer," said Steven Chien, VP of Product Management at ABS. "Creating the world's best gaming PCs with the latest 50 Series cards has been amazing, and we can't wait for customers to get theirs in hand."

At least they had "some" stock. At my place there is still no update of Nvidia marketplace for 5000 serie and common retailers are just about "Out of stock". Another paper release..

What stock? Ngreedia shipped less units for this so-called "launch" to retailers than it did to YouTube influencers and reviewers (pretty much anyone with over 50k subs got one). Apparently Micro Center got like 100 units of RTX 5090s nationwide. OcUK got like a dozen units for the entire UK. I'm surprised this age-old tactic of shipping pretty much zero units for their paper launches still gets clueless people lining up outside stores in hopes of getting one.

saw posts from retailers here in India many after market 5080s are available but nGreedia has priced 5080 and 5090 to the moon at around $1850 for 5080 and nearly twice that for 5090 and based on comments most gamers are going to get 4090 instead which is similarly priced to 5080.

and 0 hard number on the number of GPU available.

solding out 100 cards for the entire US is extremely unsurprising, even at the ngreedia price.

I wonder if those images were all of the RTX 50 cards newegg had, almost no cards is a paper launch.
People must love getting ripped off on a 40 series refresh, none of these cards sold at anything close to MSRP either.

I find it really interesting how everyone loudly hates on people wanting to buy new GPUs when they're launched. Buying on day 1 maximises the time you have the product for, it makes way more sense to buy on day 1 rather than 6 months later at the exact same price. Assuming you can afford it on day 1 ofc. It doesn't make sense to me to be bashing people who are just buying the best things on the market. Sure the 5080 is weaker than we'd like for a 4080/Super successor, but it's still the best thing you can buy for $1k, assuming you get a sensibly priced one.

Scalpers are a massive problem though, I'm definitely in the "more should be done" camp, though I've not got any great suggestions that would be realistic. We can't expect retailers to police what people do after they buy a product from them. Does anyone have any suggestions to help combat scalping?

They're all on ebay at scalper prices already, loads available there, sellers better hope more stock doesn't drop before they sell.

Edit, in the UK at least some retailers still have them at pre scalped prices 1399 for 5080.

Can't really imagine why anyone is excited for them. Could have got a 4 series largely identical for the last two years.

It look like we are back to the Paper Launch era. I recall around the 2000s that many launch were just paper launch in both CPU and GPU. They were "released" and reviewed, but it took months to half a year before you would be able to buy any of them.

Manufacturer used to be shamed for doing that but it look like its coming back.

The crazy thing is, the fanbois are still blindly worshipping Ngreedia, even after Dear Leader Jensen lied at CES with the “5070 beats the 4090”, this paper launch or my favorite “we are blocking the miners so you can get your gpus” meanwhile they were indeed selling directly to miners by truckloads..lol

its crazy such loyalty after all this abuse.

But it's not two years ago, it's now. So unless you have a time machine you're willing to let us use, that's a pretty useless observation...

If people wanted one, they'll already have one.

What we have here, is a lot of scalping and Nvidia likely deliberately not having stock on launch.

To hold the prices up, for now anyway.

Indeed, the "5070 beats the 4090" claim is something everyone should be highlighting but no it's all hype for the 50 series, Nvidia upselling their cards by a tier for the past 2-3 generations, and is even abusing the AIB's by undercutting them with the FE so none of their partners can compete on price. I remember Nvidia also "accidentally" leaked out the driver to bypass the mining block.
This paper launch means Nvidia is either keeping consumer supply low while they sell directly to datacenters for AI, or Nvidia is keeping stock to sell them later as a Super version with 3GB GDDR7 chips.
MSI also warned of very low stock, but people still lined up for no cards in stock, its absurd how some people are still so loyal to buying the latest Nvidia card.
I wonder why everyone is in such a hurry with the new 50 series, after articles have already appeared that the drivers for these cards are still in a half-baked state?
But it's Nvidia, the drivers are supposed to be "it just works". Not surprised though, DLSS4 seems to cause artifacting which barely even gets mentioned, and Gamers Nexus mentioned CP2077 Phantom Liberty crashed or wouldn't launch, which is hilarious for a game essentially being a Nvidia feature demo.
