I just cannot see any justification for even thinking about getting a 5080, even at MSRP, when I got the 4080 a year ago for essentially USD 800 because of the "fire sale" due to the introduction of the Super variants. There's just no real incentive.

Asus forgot to include having to fight them for an RMA as its own feature set.

Assus discusses how they've joined scalper pricing while selling the same card as other manufacturers.

Seriously though the TUF OC costs as much as the Gigabyte Waterforce.

Less talking and PowerPoint slides and more cards on the shelves including embargoed "US allies" not on privileged shortlist (West-EU (-Portugal)/JPN/SK/AUS/NZ).

I really dislike that Asus just paperlaunched...
Will have to defend ASUS here: NVIDIA paperlaunched the 5080 and 5090. There's hardly chips for the FEs, let alone for them AIBs to use.

My local trusty Microcenter has one 5090 model that’s sold out, retail price of $2429. There are 3 total units of 5080 available, in-store only, with many models out of stock. The 5080s are all at least $200 over MSRP, and this is at a retailer known for having many good deals. The 3 5080 models in stock range from 1299 to 1499!

Let's fix this for you:
Your 4070 Ti is pretty good; anything short of a 7080 in year 2029 wouldn't offer a meaningful upgrade
But but but...

According to most users polled, 12GB is not enough in 2025

"I" am the most important because only I know my needs best. I don't leave it to advice from people outside of me to decide what I need. Even less do I take on the processing from the marketing teams of companies. Even when I don't know something and ask a question for initial information, I don't let it be an obligation to buy. Finally, I don't buy things to show pants down..

Remember, just because MC has good deals on stuff doesn't mean it applies to everything. They are also at the mercy of their distributors. They can't just get these cards and price them under the MSRP.

Also, I never really thought MC had good prices on GPUs over any where else. If that were the case then back with the crypto boom and covid bullshit lockdowns, they wouldn't have been selling $1200 RTX 3080 and $1100 RX 6700XT or pricing the RX 6800 at $1300 and the 6800XT at $1400+ or the 3090 at $2000. They sell GPUs for the prices pretty much every other place does.

Yeah, I’m not as versed in their GPU prices. Last GPU I bought from them was the HD 3870 for $200. I do recall that during the mining boom, they barely had anything in stock either. I think they do have a deal where if you buy an AMD combo, they discount the 7800/7900XT, but that’s a big outlay for a deal!

I thought more of the fact that TUF is nowhere to be found while Asus only sells the Astral-model. This seems like the 3080/3090 tuf launch. Very few models available and Asus mostly sold Strix in the beginning. Yeah, Nvidia is mostly to be blamed.

What do people do for a living we are in the wrong jobs guys even now @$999 MSRP i wont buy it unless it was for $749 MAX then yes this is the right price the GTX 1080 ti day one was $699 that was flag ship we know its not 2018 but still 5080 is not flagship top tier , so $699 to $749 is a fair price since also no leap in performance only is dlss4 if thay wanted they could add it to older gpus but its a selling scam for a 5090 $1199-1299 MAX , i bought my 3080Ti not in those crazy high prices days i paid 2 years ago FEB-19-2023 $500 out the door.
Credit card debt how else you gonna rack up 24% interest payments

It's strange they don't mention that TUF cards have 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, which seems only they do if I'm not mistaken. It's one of the things I was very happy with on my TUF 3080, and one of the few actually differentiating features... and they don't even mention it.

Oh, that's strange, somehow I read:

"Look at our cooler, it's thicker, has RBG, & with our Astral, you get one whole extra fan! *Please ignore the turbulent noise this extra fan creates, while not really doing anything that much extra for cooling. We will also print our logo on the power delivery system, this will obviously make it more robust and increase their lifespan, please do continue to ignore the fact that we still can't put fuses on our boards to protect the actual important components, in this way, you will have the chance to buy our **** again in the near future when something goes wrong with these power guzzlers, not "if" but "when" *giggles*! All these features, for a mere $1000 above MSRP, with a mediocre warranty period! What a deal! Buy now!"
