ASUS's Republic of Gamers China account on Weibo has teased the ROG Magic X mobile device that combines laptop/tablet form with a detachable keyboard. Inside, the device is powered by AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ SoC, which ASUS called a "three-in-one" chip, mainly due to its CPU, NPU, and iGPU combination. One possible SKU for ROG Magic X is AMD's top-end Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processor. Carrying 16 "Zen 5" cores and 32 threads, the chip is designed for AI-enhanced laptops with 126 combined TOPS of AI processing power. The Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 features 64 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base clock of 3 GHz, with boost capabilities up to 5.1 GHz, depending on workload conditions. Manufactured on TSMC's 4 nm process node, the processor maintains a modest 55 W TDP, suitable for high-performance mobile systems. The chip includes support for ECC memory and PCIe Gen 5. It integrates the Radeon 8060S solution based on RDNA 3.5 architecture for graphics.

We are yet to see more details about the ROG Magic X, but with the arrival of AMD Ryzen AI MAX+, we assume this machine will result in a powerful gaming device for users on the go. More details are expected on February 25, when ASUS plans to showcase it. Pricing and availability are also expected to follow soon after.

I still can’t believe this SoC is real. It’s like AMD accidentally dropped a GPU into a vat of CPUs, tasted it and was like OMG that’s delicious!

The annoying thing is that AMD technically could have launched a big iGPU APU years ago; for that matter they did launch APUs like that years ago, for the APU's that go into the PlayStation & Xbox. Granted those use GDDR6 which I understand while great for GPUs can cause some mild performance declines for CPU orientated work, but it would still work well enough. Heck, there were even some weird motherboards with the PS5 chip & soldiered GDDR6 that ran Windows just fine, though those had the iGPU disabled. (The Ryzen 4700s if anyone is wondering).

I will say the exciting thing about Strix Halo is apparently the packaging; it is looking like they may have massively mitigated the latency & idle power usage issues that come with using chiplets, which is a very nice bonus. Will be very useful for future mobile products.

There was also RX Vega GH, but not w/ combined memory

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
Nobody knows why they did it this way.

I suspect it could be to break through the OEM wall.

But with just a handful of laptops announced, it doesn't look like it's working.

What is this? This looks and sounds like the 2025 ROG Flow Z13.

Probably just the localized name for the Flow Z13. They should've gone with Magic Z if ever they have a 2-in-1 version like the X13.

EDIT: Yeah I confirmed that it is most likely the name of the Chinese release. There was a 2022 Magic X which is basically the 2022 Flow Z13 (12900H and 3050 Ti).
