Lighter version of windows 11 + your Solidigm NVMe Custom Modded driver[+Tunings] driver. Seems to score the highest of all 3 for the 4KQ1T1 portion (which is what I'm after).

Tested with my 905p 960gb & SKHynix P41 2TB
It made a slight improvement with the P41 and slight regression on the 905p :ohwell:
Given that the P41 is a dedicated games drive I'll keep the driver installed on it but, remove it for the 905p... Not sure what happened honestly, Was hoping for results comparable to @sause

You can try disabling IOMMU in the bios. That alone was worth 90MB/s for 4k random performance. There is also Global C states and ASPM. Disabling those should help a little bit as well.

The rest is clock speed generally. The higher your single thread clocks can go, the faster the 4K random speeds get.

[Beta] New Solidigm Custom Modded Driver.

Notice:- This Beta ones until I'm confident enough to call it stable :)

Long term tests been made on 4 systems [2 PCs and 2 Laptops] on Win11 23H2/24H2 Official release and Win11 24H2 Dev/Beta Insider releases, all passed without errors for almost 2 months of all kind of usage that stressing & mixed stresses on SSD driver hence I am sharing it here on public for beta public tests.

Changelog:-
  • Allow Windows to treat this driver as 64BitAddressing support since it's supported & working without issue
  • Added Supports64BitAddressing key which will allow storport subsystems to allocate more than 4GB under page/non-page memory pressure.
  • Allowing Storport components to treat the driver as 64BitAddressing supported flag which allows the driver to deal with larger scale of IO workloads & significantly greater queue depths.
  • Tell Storport this driver can support 4K sector size if it is available or supported by SSD Firmware.
  • Enables/Disables Idle Power Management for StorPort on this driver according to power source/power consumption of the SSD.
  • Applied I/O Resource Usage Reduction flags to the driver
  • Applied SRIOV support flags to the driver
  • Applied flags and make ACS optional to the driver
  • Applied Opt-in to ASPM flags to the driver
  • Applied D3 cold support to the driver
  • Applied flag to have the driver to require extra settle time after D3Cold transitions
  • Applied Opt-in to Atomics flags to the driver
  • Applied Opt-in to Recovery flags to the driver
  • Opt-out from PCI Bridge Interrupt Filtering by removing the flag from the driver
Overall you might not see a difference but this is all small optimizations here and there to allow the driver to use your SSD full capabilities without causing issues. The driver has so much potential that can be unlocked or by other means.... modded ;)

Forgive me for my late replies & for not following up new posts as it's out of my control. I'm trying to keep up as much as I can :)

Strangely, I actually got worse performance on RND4K Q32T1 Read and Write (both SN570 and 850X). However, I've seen how stable it was and the readings for SEQ1M Q8T1 and Q1T1 were rock solid, barely moving even a megabyte up or down. For randoms, it would go up for a little while - nothing much, just ~2MB more.

My SN850X has almost the same performance (SEQ128K write is a tad slower. After a restart it is the same as before), as with the older driver (v5):

RND4K write is 800MB/s higher on my SN570:

Looks like the last optimisations were useful for HMB NVME drives.

My current system is running Windows 11 Professional Workstation Edition 24H2, build number 26100.3194. The drivers are working wonderfully, and the overall performance is excellent.

However, I've noticed a minor issue. With the recent Windows updates, Task Manager has added a feature to show disk type directly, which is a great addition! But after installing the driver, the disk type shown in Task Manager incorrectly displays as 'SSD (RAID)'. It should actually be recognized as NVMe.

It's strange, but this problem is definitely happening on my system. Perhaps I need to provide more information to resolve it.

It's not a problem as it's actually expected due to the changes that's being made :) so there's nothing that needs to be resolved ;) I should have put a notice about it on the changelog to prevent confusion.

Unfortunately I no longer can edit the comment so on the next beta release I will put notice about it. As I'm doing alot of changes during beta testing so I forgot to mention about this change :D

I also have the same thing btw :D this only happens with Win11 24H2.

thank you :respect: the best way to decide which one is the best and stable is to try them, every SSD drive react differently depending on many factors like flash channels, SSD controllers, NAND, etc... :)

I haven't really tested on a RAID0 configuration. I wish had 2 identical SSD to try RAID config but my wallet says otherwise :D You can make a backup and test.

It shouldn't cause any issues. Solidigm drivers share alot of functions from Intel RST drivers & both share same features of RAID configuration... I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work :)

If this is not a problem that is occurring but rather a better adjustment, that would be wonderful. Thank you for your efforts. :toast:

Its also a question if it makes any sense to do this. Since these are Solidigm Drives they use the Original Solidigm NVME Driver by default. Does it make sense to try the modded one? Could it improve performace further or is it pointless?

Oh well, for performance it will be roughly the same if not better but if you care about latency & power tunings then the modded ones definitely gets the upper hand because of the extra optimizations which won't be available when using the Original Solidigm NVME Driver. :)

Theoretically Overall... yea it is pointless as it won't matter much in your case. You could always backup and try if you're curious. I can't remember the last time who tried it on a RAID config with Solidigm SSD Drive scenario before but I believe it will be roughly the same.

If this is not a problem that is occurring but rather a better adjustment, that would be wonderful. Thank you for your efforts. :toast:
I'm thankful for your kindness & support :respect: Exactly :) it's just for better tuning. I have tested it thoroughly on 4 systems but still this isn't enough as every user got a different setup and different config hence why I'm releasing those beta drivers to the public just to make sure everything is 100% reliable & stable ;)

2025-2-23 New Beta Driver SN850X NVMe SSD profile.png

I've seen that DrDre's tests were different and that always had me confused. So I decided to do some fiddling with CrystalDiskMark and I found that I've been using the Default profile instead of the NVMe SSD profile... that's emberassing...

Anyway! These numbers are pretty close to DrDre's now (SN850X has a little bit less Rand Write, but that's not so bad). Now these numbers should be more inline with DrDre's and more accurate now.

1740808582703.png

Aside from that, these idle changes are wonderful. My SN850X would race to boost clock as much as possible when downloading a game on Steam. Now, with the new driver, SN850X keeps at ~800Mbps (according to Steam) and never boosts higher unless necessary (more demanding decompression). Before it would boost at their biggest clock, now it's much more stable on the necessary clock and when it can be as idle as possible, it rushes to be idle. That's why I posted this ending Steam download graph, you can see download activity ends and the SSD steadily drops until completely idle. These changes are awesome! Keep up the good work!

Don't worry about it, totally normal & harmless. Ignore it. Even Solidigm SSD NVMe users themselves having this errors too.

If you look at Solildigm forums, the new version supposedly should fix it but you can still see it pop up by checking solildigm forums comments that it does report it from time to time.

It is nothing serious about it & it is 100% completely harmless, I have had those errors before on Sk Hynix P31 Gold while using completely stock MS-InBox drivers. So it is more like useless reports or false positive ones, still works till now since 2020.

Solidigm developers on the newest version driver those reports shouldn't happen but you still see users commenting that it happens :D I have seen many & many comments like those for example...

So best way is to ignore it :) solidigm developers doesn't seem to care much about those useless events so it's not worth there time to even fix those pop up events lol

I encountered an issue with my Samsung PM9B1 1024GB (MZVL41T0HBLB-00BTW) where the computer froze for about 2 minutes before resuming normal operation. I checked the Event Viewer and saw an error message as shown in the screenshot.

I encountered an issue with my Samsung PM9B1 1024GB (MZVL41T0HBLB-00BTW) where the computer froze for about 2 minutes before resuming normal operation. I checked the Event Viewer and saw an error message as shown in the screenshot.

  • I just did a post about it earlier, so I will just copy and paste my comment :)

But whenever I encounter this issue, my computer completely freezes on this screen for two minutes. After it unfreezes, this error pops up.

I can only hope that I won't encounter this kind of problem in the future.

I've encountered the same issue, showing that my hard drive is RAID. Now when I check DirectStorage in the Xbox Game Bar, it shows no NVMe SSD. I tried checking in PowerShell, and it displays as normal there. I'm wondering if DirectStorage is functioning correctly?
