AMD RDNA 4 and Radeon RX 9070 Series Unveiled: $549 & $599

AMD today unveiled the highly-anticipated AMD RDNA 4 graphics architecture with the launch of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 graphics cards as a part of the Radeon RX 9000 Series. The new graphics cards feature 16 GB of memory and extensive improvements designed for high-quality gaming graphics, including re-vamped raytracing accelerators and powerful AI accelerators for ultra-fast, cutting-edge performance, and breakthrough gaming experiences.

In a YouTube livestream, David McAfee, CVP and GM, Ryzen CPU and Radeon Graphics AMD, was joined by Andrej Zdravkovic, SVP of GPU Technologies and Engineering and Chief Software Officer, AMD, as well as Andy Pomianowski, CVP of Silicon Design Engineering, AMD, to discuss the outstanding performance and value proposition of the Radeon RX 9000 Series. In a related event in Zhuhai, China, Jack Huynh, SVP of the Client and Graphics Group, AMD, led a regional event for the new products. Huynh was joined by David Wang, SVP of GPU Technology and Engineering, AMD, and Lanzhi Wang, Senior Director of Product Management, AMD. The celebration was also marked by a customer celebration with Darren Grasby, EVP and Chief Sales Officer, AMD; Spencer Pan, President of AMD China, and partners including Asrock, ASUS, Gigabyte, Sapphire, Tul, Vastarmor, Veston, and XFX.

DOA. But who expected anything else. There is no price anchor either with founder models. Meaning the prices will fluctuate higher for sure. Paying almost 800€ for gddr6 card feels bit salty it equals basically 7900xt relauch with less vram.

I have to check my settings for 7800xt in whqd with pandora.
That does not really looks like a performance increase.

the 9070 looks like a weaker or similar 7800xt.

Pandora was one of the TRASH - free give away games I got with the purchase of amd graphic cards, processors or mainboards in past year/s. Story trash - game trash - visual trash - game ui buggy - ubisoft launcher issues - issues to buy daily items with launcher + inside game. Buggy as hell two weeks ago. The story is very political on one side - not to my liking to play a game with real life politics. Especially the last few minutes the sentences in regards of "earth". I finished the story 3 or 4 weeks ago.

For the perf uplift.. Meh. I'll wait for next gen or unless there's a better price down the line. I've seen a 7900XTX for a similar price. FSR4 is the only extra going for it to me, but then it's gonna be a while for that to be integrated in as many games. So I'd possibly go for another geforce down the line instead as DLSS is in so much. The market just feels crap right now. 4 years on from me buying a 3080 for £660, and this is what we have. Lame.

I think the 9070 should come down to at least $529. Sure, a $20 difference might not be much, but $529 looks a lot nicer than $549....ideally I think it should be $499 to warrant the performance difference between the two. The XT, from the provided 1440p performance slides appears to be roughly 20% faster. I'd rather pay an extra $50 for 20% more performance.

I wonder how many cards will be around that $600 and $550 price range or if we're expected to see and pay for cards that are bloated in price at $100-300 over MSRP.

So, exactly where most saw a realistically good price and for good performance also as 9070XT=5070Ti~7900XTX for much lower pricing. Availability will make or brake AMD's plan about gaining marketshare back. If they make plenty of those, the street prices will be kept close to MSRPs. In a month or so we will know better as for the first 1-2 weeks the scalpers will take advantage as usual.

I have to agree, just spend the extra $50 at that point. AMD should have made it $499 for non-XT. 9070 XT is going to be sold out for awhile I expect, so I guess a lot of people will be impatient and buy non-XT anyway.

If I could get a 9070 XT in hand at MSRP for $599, I'd gladly sell my 7900 xt. I'm not selling until I have it in hand and tested that it is working good though, learned my lesson on supply and demand once too many times.

These cards have been at retailers in their warehouses since January.
I'm not expecting MSRP, but either way supply and pricing has to be better than what nvidia is doing.
