Just curious if anyone has tried the aliexpress/alibaba Dicasver rtx 3060M card?
Apparently you have to install custom driver for the card to work. The driver appears to be an older version (512) and so I'm wondering if anyone has had luck updating the drivers? Thx

Because custom drivers are required for that card, no its not worth the time for you, buy an official card, not a basket case.

They are proverbially deceptive

I've been told personally that your best route would be to use Frakendrivers but even then I would not recommend buying one, as you wont find any of those cards for a good price really, and they perform worse than their regular counterparts.
If you can find one for a decent price and are willing to risk fiddling with drivers, sure I guess.. but just know that you're probably better off buying a used GPU any day of the week.

Even the 4090M is basically a 4080 with a much lower power limit, so it runs like a 4070. So not really worth it even at the ''top'' end

Thanks for your reply, I was tempted to buy a 3060m but the seller never responded so I didn't have to make a choice. :) With the economy these days a used gpu is definitely the way to go.

Not a mobile gpu on a pcie board requiring custom drivers though.

Syltart saving up, you might be able to get a rx 6600.

I've been using one of these 3060M's for over a year now, it's been working perfectly.
They're not all equal in quality though, some are made very cheaply. I got lucky with mine being a full 3070 "FE" board with the 3060 Laptop GPU & Mem transplanted onto it.

The drivers aren't a big deal just a little more work. You can just use arutar's FrankenDriver and then NVCleanstall to install the latest Nvidia driver over the existing one (not clean install). I haven't had any trouble doing it that way so far.

Other things to note;
Uses Max-Q variant gpu's so they're hard limited to ~80W (Runs cool & quiet with great perf/watt because of that though).
Only the HDMI works.
No fan speed control (Laptop GPU bios doesn't have it since the Laptop is what controls the fans).

NGL I read the brand as "Dick Saver" and had to see what this thread was about.
I read it as dishwasher but that is even better :D
Having to install a custom driver should be a general red flag/dealbreaker unless you really like to live dangerously

Love the creativity of these guys, not a bad way to recycle broken boards.
Same goes for the older boards like x299 chipset that are super hard to find here but aliexpress has many options.
