Ok, idk if this is the right forum
I recently got an old compaq pc, andi want to do some thing with that pc, this pc has a stock Athlon 4050e, and i want to put a Phenom II x4 B97, Basically I want to give Redbull to Grandpa.

The problem: the chipset is the MCP61, it doesn't has native support for phenom II, ive heard about some people that modded their bios to accept AM3 cpus, but i didnt found for my motherboard, its an ECS oem so... Its hard to find an bios, the last official bios was the 5.7, that added support for AM2+ cpus, and the B97 has Backward compatibility with that socket

If i can get some help plz

I already tried there, but the dropbox links are down.
Well, you could try and edit for yourself. Just be sure you save an original copy.

I don't know if this link will help.
There is also a bios archive. I highly doubt we have one for your specific motherboard.

Sadly, that's a common theme w/ firmware modifications on non-ubiquitous products.
I've abandoned old tablets and phones I've modified, because I couldn't ever find the files again.

I'm just starting to 'get into' firmware modding, myself. So far, I've added NVME booting and ReBAR support to 3 or 4 early UEFI mobos.
[Note: Intel 1st party boards and some others, will require a hardware flashing tool to write]
It's not especially hard on UEFI; more-less, it's merely swapping modules in and out of a .rom. But, I haven't done much with BIOS-era stuff.

Regardless, those resources are handy for me, too.

Thank you for that.
Oh our site is packed full of goodness.
The nice thing is most of it isn't buried under thousands and thousands of posts :)

Oh wanted to mention that a lot of modding uefi is just unlocking the features that are already there. Old bioses are easier. Lot of boards would crossflash rather easily.

Some of the greatest mods are already there if you're looking at particular motherboards. All ya gotta do is ask. Mr.Scott can help get a bios from the archives.

Me, I'm more into GPU bios modifications myself. :)

Yes, this sort of thing takes a shit ton of patience time and practice. Trial and error. Especially for motherboards.

Just had that come up on the last board (Z97M-G43) I modded. "Above 4G Decoding" was not an option in-UEFI, but it was there, occluded.

In my limited experience, one may have to try multiple different versions/releases of a given tool. -to find the version that's still/fully supporting the firmware image being loaded.

Honestly, I would just buy a board.

My fastest OC 7685mhz was done on this very motherboard. No reason to edit a bios. AM3 boards are cheap. Don't remember if this board unlocks Athlon II chips or not.

The point is not to spend money, literally the PC was free, so I don't plan on spending money on it.

All good. Totally understand. But it's actually easier to buy a motherboard than it is to edit an UEFI bios.

Best bet might be crossflashing motherboard models.

Other than this, I cannot edit UEFI bioses. Or I'd be of better help. I'm sorry for that.

Like this? https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HP-MCP61PM-HM-Nettle3-5-17-With-Unlocked-Overclocking-Options

The board in question appears to be a ECS MCP61PM-HM (or also a PC Chips A15G).
If they are that identical, I'd be tempted to clip a ch341a on, and manually flash the ROM to the ECS or PCchips' board's.
Edit: You should be able to still find the firmware files on theretroweb.com.

Hey all!

Im here to report that the primary bios in the OP " GeForce6100PM-M2 (V7.0/V7.1) http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product...20&LanID=9 " is a working bios for the MCP61PM-HM v2.1 Motherboard.
Flashing of the bios was done on a Ubuntu 14.04 installation instead of a live cd.

For those of you who are getting the missing USB header error, you will need to download the usb libraries ( Software Center - Search " libusb " ) this is how I fixed my missing usb.h header error anyway.

I do have the PCI IRQ Routing Table Error and my fans seem to run at a higher rpm but other than that it has been working flawlessly for the past 2 weeks.

This was my first foray into bios modifiaction but I can say if you follow the steps in the OP you should be fine as long as you use the linux flash method. For those concerned about the flash bricking your bios chip, go get a spare one from a ver 2.1 or 2.2 board. These boards are so old my next door neighbor at work, a computer shop (lucky me), had a ver 2.2 board laying around and invited me to take it off his hands. Even if you have to pay 5 bucks for the thing it is better safe than sorry.

I am also happy to report that I am running an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (HDT55TWFK6DGR), not overclocked, with no issues. I have not explored the options to overclock just yet so if someone out there is running this same setup please shed some light on how to do this correctly.

Good luck and happy flashing.

Hello everyone

For information, no one said it but :

MCP61PM-HM v2.1 is only for 65w CPU (I tested 95w phenom 9650 with v8.0 ROM from ECS and it results with no bios/post)

MCP61PM-HM v2.2 is for 95w or higher
