The PowerColor Radeon RX 9070 Hellhound features a slim dual-slot cooling solution that delivers outstanding temperatures while staying whisper-quiet under full load. Energy efficiency is incredible, too, and you get a dual BIOS as well.

Very nice card for the teardown and fan noise. Two slots is also very small.

You may check this page at the bottom if the information is correct, please. (xt maybe wrong)

The AMD Navi 48 GPU at the heart of the Radeon RX 9070 XT is a monolithic die. It is fabricated using a 4 nanometer N4P process at TSMC Taiwan. The die measures 357 mm², and comes with a transistor count of 53.9 billion.

Whoops, I forgot to change that

Same GPU, but yes, fixed

Finally a GPU designed to go low RPM. Strange that there is only 0.5 dB difference between 900 and 650 RPM. 0.5 dB is close to the lowest value what humans can judge as different sound volume. So it's either background noise problem or coil whine dominates the noise.

Impressive. Two slots, whisper quiet, runs cool. Honestly might be worth the increase in MSRP if you don't need the extra performance (I'm just curious how its temps and quietness compare when its OC'd.)

one thing that i think is worth noting is it’s price on some countries.
take here in Brazil as an example, the non-xt’s MSRP is roughly 150-200$ lower than the XT, making a strong case for it

Voltage curve looks like AMD has pushed the gpu beyond the efficiency range and put directly in overclock territory.

Compared to this, in 5070 I see a second line with different inclination showing better performance per voltage on left side of curve.

But after multiplying the efficiency graph with the performance/price ratio, whole AMD curve is better than the left part of Nvidia curve.

We are, like, into the year six of ridiculously overengineered coolers that don't require high or even sometimes average fan speed to be efficient.

Cheap compact solutions that make some noise are scarce, not the other way around. On behalf of people who only care for cost and space efficiency I announce your "finally" not legit whatsoever. I'm truly pissed by how hard it is to get a GPU that isn't bigger than it's supposed to be; isn't more expensive than it's supposed to be. Fan noise? Seriously? Can't hear jack over my headphones feeding me high impact heavy metal anyway.

This GPU is just another one of these overbuilt chonkers. 9070s were supposed to be a massively produced series affordable for Joe Public but so far I've only seen fake MSRP, extreme body sizes and fairly high TGPs.

A nice card with an oddly tuned dual bios. Nothing you can't fix with a custom fan curve, but I think they should have differentiated quiet and regular bios a bit more.

All of the performance comparisons are for the 9070XT instead of the 9070.
Fixed

I thought about complaining about this, too, but in which way would you change the BIOS? Temperatures are ultra-low, noise levels are ultra-low, actually no need for a dual BIOS

They could have gone with a more aggressive curve on the default profile, maybe even made fan stop exclusive to quiet mode. Overall though I agree. They didn't need to add dual BIOS on these models.

Just mentioning : PC HH Is a 2 slot card but has same thickness 60mm as Asus 9070 TUF 3 slots card...

My pros and cons:

Pros

Not sure a 1 more heat pipe will compensate the lack of coldplates on the Pulse

PC hellhound vs S pulse XT.jpg

Cons : to light heatsink and no pads on the back plate.

I prefer quiet passive cooling from the overbuilt heatsink instead of high RPM of the fans.

See, my wish (small size, low price) is physically and economically feasible. It can be mass produced. I already mentioned I go wild with music, I can't hear a 7K RPM blower fan FWIW. Noise doesn't bother me. But it bothers too many other people so they don't produce such things. Not enough of them at the very least.

Yours, on the other hand, assuming we stay 200+ Watts, will require some black magic to be pulled off. 'least I'm not aware of heatsinks advanced enough to stay fully passive, keep GPUs this powerful at bay, and not utterly destroy the PCI-e port at the same time. Even if you can do it once it doesn't mean it can be mass produced at what's essentially a sane price.

Sry, forgot to mention Quiet passive cooling in my book means low RPM fans and not over 1500 RPM. I never put my fans on on 0 RPM nor I let 0db "feature" to take over.

Then you can buy literally anything and worst case scenario press two buttons in your software so it runs slightly more conservative wattage numbers and doesn't impact your ears.

Than what GPU are you suggesting for 1440 P high and ultra let's say max 80-100 FPS in 2023- 2027 games?

I'm not sure. I bought my Powercolor 7800xt hellhound because it's quiet. Paid 100€ extra - surplus charge for a 600€ card. I think the hellhound purpose is to be quiet. the loudest part of my computer is my 7800xt hellhound as of now. Except my two studio monitors for "audio".

I assume a dual bios is good for those "kids" who flash something and than the card does not boot. So you can than just switch and use the other bios for a fallback. (never tried yet)

Anyone who wants a cheaper louder card - there are plenty of 40dba cards - go for it. e.g msi radeon 6800 z trio is a very good example for that.

build quality is much better according to the provided pictures. Counterpart of screws are in metall. Cheap garbage of other card (not this card) I criticised last time - counterpart for screws molded in plastic (which some guys did not understand or comprehend in my point of view).

Then you can buy literally anything and worst case scenario press two buttons in your software so it runs slightly more conservative wattage numbers and doesn't impact your ears.

That did not work with the MSI radeon 6800 z trio with windows 11 pro 23h2. at 30% (well if you are friendly you can change it to 35%) of the fan curve according to the windows amd gpu driver the card was unbearable for myself. Anyway 70% - (or lets be friendly 65%) of the fan curve of the MSI radeon 6800 z trio can not be used. I bought the card with my money. This was a card which was fresh released quite late. I sold it after 3 months.

Buy that card MSI radeon 6800 z trio, buy the 7800xt hellhound and compare.

Part of the flaw are those 3000 or 3200 rpm fans.

edit: fixed typo

That doesn't compute to me, sorry. Anything below 80 dBA is fine by me. Anything beyond that is AWESOME!

2027? I'm afraid I don't possess the knowledge of how hard it is to run these games. As for the games that exist today, you'll need something along the lines of 7900 XTX if you don't enable RT or overclocked 4090 if you do enable RT, or a thing satisfying you doesn't exist if you go full-on PT.

There is a reason, they have different power targets from each bios mode, which makes sense.
Always a good idea to have dual bios no matter what, if you need to flash you might end up with a brick card if something goes wrong.
