If you are the last post, and know it will merge, start the new part with "EDIT:" (maybe add a time of repost) post as you would, and alow the magic to happen

So the AAA gaming is out of my reach atm, thanks to a really nasty plot twist. No more comments about Avowed et al, then :) At least for the time being... It sucks overall, but there’s a silver lining. It means I have more time for my true loves: retro games on MiSTer and roguelikes on the PC...

You only wanted to post for a 20K mention on post 23K-and-change? to what end, just to hit the latest posts agin? You consider that a "need" to change software over?

No, the last edit was the one I wanted to be different (I thought it was obvious because I spelled it out, but it wasn't and see the problem?). It's about how forums work, and even more so with Thank Yous and reactions and all that modern shit.

No I don't see a problem. The info is there. You want the attention and thank yous by how you explain it.

I would agree that some emergency situations could be screwed by automerge. However, new people will quote individuals and post three and four times in a row. Without automerge, life would be hell for mods.

I do not see how what you were playing, or how many posts in a thread, or if farts are runny or dry is a good use case against automerge.

When you put that twenty thousandth fart on blast you expect someone to clap (or less polite gestures fanning it away).

Edit: No offense whatsoever was meant towards @Frick Humor only.

That said, I've fallen on both sides of forcing a subject as well as what seemed a long enough passage of time to respond outside of an earlier post.
