ASUS has released a press release clarifying its position on the "Warranty void if removed" sticker on the bottom of the ASUS Eee PC that covers the RAM slot:
ASUS wishes to assure its customers that merely breaking or removing this kind of seal will not void the ASUS Limited Warranty.
This is great news for those looking to upgrade RAM or are checking to see if their Eee PC came with a Mini-PCIe connector. ASUS also plans on removing the sticker from all future Eee PCs.

I remember they put those stickers on the case for old gateways, back in th 90's, I had to remove it to re-seat the vid card that got bumped loose during shipping, but the guys at gateway said it wouldnt void my warranty, why bother putting it on in the first place then?

Oh well, cool that Asus is doing this. Whats that about a mini-pcie slot?

They put it there so you don't get "curious" and try to upgrade it, they want you to buy a new one :)

I had that warrenty sticker thing a few years ago.

It was a pentium 166 i had bought for £1800 with 32mb ram:twitch:.I had bought another 32mb ram and rang them up about it,at first they said it would void the warrenty until i said ok then i'll send it back post paid by you and you fit the ram and post it back at your expense. They relented and said it would'nt void the warrenty if i fitted the ram.
