ROCCAT, a new gaming peripheral company, has introduced its first product targeted towards PC gamers. The Kone gaming mouse is equipped with Distance Control Unit technology which will halt cursor movement when it detects a change in distance between the sensor and the desktop surface. The mouse boasts 96kb of onboard memory and contains five different LED lights which enables users to choose over 1000 colors of lighting. It also allows adjustable weights for a custom tailored feel and has the ability to switch into joystick mode for flight control. The DPI and pricing of the Kone is still unknown.

Well...it looks like I found my new mouse I have been looking for. Now, all I need is a link and price. :)

My guess is that it would be between 1000-2000 DPI if it's really aiming for the gaming/high end market and would likely see 60+ on the pricing, if it's very high quality probably even higher.

I am loving the appearance and the (look of the) shape. From the pictures and descriptions I am pretty much sold. Once I see one good review, then I will definitely be getting this over the Logitech G9.

By the way heres some more info on the mouse.

They changed up the shape of the top of the mouse and the thumb area looks to be a little less deep and defined. Also, why not do something similar to an already great and widely praised design? Not like there isn't a company not guilty of it.

Looks like they merged the MX518, DeathAdder, and that new SteelSeries mouse :p

You guys should be comparing it to G5 not mx518 as it has no tilt wheel. Looks heeps better than mx518 anyways :p

Lose the tilt and I'm interested, surely it can't be as expensive as the big names, they can't put the name extra there. But if this is laser and cheap I'll get it if it's cheap (and sold here..).

"available in a few weeks with a recommended retail price of 69.99 Euro."

Heh, there goes another good mouse without a buyer. *continues waiting* Why can't they (anyone) make a quality mouse with less features for 2/3ds the price. Now if this is really a quality mouse and they'd sell it for less than Razer/Logitech/Microsoft, those big names would have to sell their's for less too and consumer wins :/

really nice looking, needs more buttons tho (MX510 has 8 Fully Reprogrammable buttons without loss of function, the Sensitivity Adjustment needs to be moved and then other buttons made for other functions (10 buttons total mouse)

Hmm...
Read this - http://www.roccat.org/index.php?ROCCAT=Fairy+Tales
Then make your mind up about this company.
IMHO they seem to be a bunch of knobs, it's a good laugh though...

Agreed. Besides, there's only so many ways you can shape a mouse so it can fit comfortably in someone's hand.

I don't care about the resemblance to G5.. it looks stunning! :respect: and the ability to color it in any way you want is great (no more blue skin, orange leds G5..).

I sent these guys an email around the time this news was released on this site. For some reason, Thunderbird didnt pick it up. I just checked out my gmail account and they indeed did send me an email.

Basically what the email contained (on my end) was asking when the USA would be able to purchase these items. Their response back to me was the following:

Thank you for your email and your interest in ROCCAT. The ROCCAT products will be presumably available in the USA in February 2008. You can purchase our products over the internet.

Please go to www.roccat.org and find out more about ROCCAT and our products. You can also sign up for the ROCCAT newsletter which keeps you updated all the time.

Please stay tuned.

Have a nice day and take care.

Benchmark Scores pppft, gotta see it to believe it. . .
I also had some troubles contacting Roccat directly, but after some persistance i managed to order in my Kone mouse.

Took me about 3 weeks to fine tune it to myself and now im loving it.
From being a Razer Copperhead user for over 3 years, owning over 15 of them due to my abusive right handed nature and dropping them on the floor a few times i found it easy to adapt and notice the benifits.

I use to assume the Copperhead was the KING of mice, but i now know differently.
The mouse cost me $180au including shipping and insurance. If your not fussed about the price and your looking for the ultimate mouse, i recommend it.

I use to be a fan of the logitech mice prior to my Razer days, and during the Razer days i often tried to get away to another mouse, but as time progressed i realized the importance of having a fully custimizable mouse with its own onboard ram.

I hope there support is better than when you were trying to buy some thing of them..

I'm still on my 1st Razer Diamondback and it's been great and all ways been able to set keys to it which took some time at 1st. But it's been possible. Even thought he mouse is to small for my hands it's been sweet. As for other Razer mice i hated each and everyone of them due to there side buttons.

Never really liked logitech All though i did take a little shine to the MX510 but it was mainly for a righty.. Only one i really liked of logitech Labeled as a IBM mouse.

If i replace this mouse i'd just get the same one again unless they do one 2-3 times bigger than this one lol.
