Dell has updated its monitor line-up to offer a new 30-inch LCD. Nicknamed Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP, the new monitor has a native resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and 370 cd/m2 brightness. The new Dell LCD features a 8ms (G2G) response time, a 3-year warranty and has a multiple connectors including S-Video, Analog, DVI-D with HDCP, HDMI, Component, Composite and DisplayPort. The monitor is already available for purchase online directly from Dell for $2,034.

Yea and that puppy costs 1990€ in Europe, shipping date: 9th of January 2008. Talk about us getting ripped of again...I am getting really tired of this 1:1 US Dollar to Euro exchange rate. We finance the weak dollar, because companies like Dell can sell with a small margin of profit in the US and a large one in Europe...

I'd rather have a 2408WFP, if it ever comes out. 2560x1600 is just too much for me, 1920x1200 is just right, IMO. And, it's about time they start incorporating LED backlighting into these monitors.

Of course they are.

This monitor uses the exact same panel as the 3007WFP HC.

All it really has over it, are the extra connection, which were the 3007WFP's greatest weakness.

Yes, and the fact that it costs an ass load more to get it into Europe has nothing to do with the inflated prices.:shadedshu

Shipping isn't the only issue that foriegn companies have to deal with when selling a product in Europe. The profit margin in Europe is actually smaller than in the US because of all the extra BS Europe puts companies through. The tariffs alone are probably more then $800 per unit. Don't bitch at Dell because you have to pay more, bitch at your government for charging insane import taxes and requiring so much legal BS to import a product.

Hell, I got my 1080p Samsung 40" LCD HDTV for only a grand lol.
I would gladly get 2 instead of 1 Dell 30".

You aren't going to find an HDTV that will do 2560x1600. That is why this thing costs more than a HDTV.

Dang, with that 2560x1600 native resolution my current setup would not be much of a gaming system. I can't imagine how awesome some of the current games would look at those resolutions though.

I beg to differ! Let's just say my dad works in export/import ^^.

The so called "BS" is pretty much just as you would expect within America.

There are no import taxes. The EU units are assembled in Hungary. So shipping is not it either.

Anyways I will wait for the 24 inch variant

Anyways, I agree way too overpriced for me.
I prefer my HDTV and my PS3 / Wii.
