Arctic Cooling Now Offers 30 gram MX-2 Package

Due to the high demand, a new large 30 gram package of MX-2 has been released by Arctic Cooling. MX-2 is a high thermal conductivity and low thermal resistance compound for components that require optimum thermal dissipation. It is ideally suited for use in CPU, GPU cooling and other applications between power semiconductor components and heat sinks where thermal conductivity is the major factor. People have used MX-2, and it's better than AS5, but unless if you're a real OCD overclock junkie, then AS5 is all you need. The good thing about MX-2 is that it can be also used on GPU's.

All I use now is MX-2. Dropped temps on my Q6600 a few degrees, and about 6c on my 8800GT compared to AS5.

People have used MX-2, and it's better than AS5, but unless if you're a real OCD overclock junkie, then AS5 is all you need. The good thing about MX-2 is that it can be also used on GPU's.

MX-2 doesn't have to sit like Artic silver 5.. Plus if you look at the making of Aritc Silver 5 it has metal flakes in it... Or something else like that... I forget...

The better points of MX-2: it is not conductive nor is it capacitive, no burn-in time, and I've found that it performs much better on my naked Opteron 170 than AS5 did. With the arctic silver my load temps were ~57 C while MX-2 kept it at 48 C max. I was skeptical at first too at the performance difference but figured if I could drop my temps with only using different paste I'd try (I still have almost half a large tube of AS5 that'll I'll use on rigs of friends and family). I reserve the MX-2 for myself!

lol... I'd do that too! Artic Silver 5 has REAL SILVER flaxes in the liquid. it will cause friction to which it can wear down the compound. and because of the flaxes, it isn't as solid as MX-2. And with that, the temps are higher...

MX-1 was my first thermal paste, it was a realy wreid story
when i was about to order the Arctic Silver i acidently ordered mx-1
but it was good as mx-1 was safer, as in i got it on my cpu pins and it oced fine to 2.6ghz

the antec stuff is nasty, and not even silver. Go to a real grease and you will get far better temps.

MX2 is quite easy to apply, which results in better temps for most.

Agreed. A thermal paste round-up would be excellent and probably a first-of-its-kind.
