Creative Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS
Corsair HX620
Lian Li PC-65B II

Mods:
Biggest mod I did on this computer is the video card. I swapped out the old stock cooler to a Zalman VF1000+RHS88. I was still unhappy with the noise and performance so I took off the (horrible) Zalman fan and strapped on 2 80mm Nexus fans.

Overclocked CPU to 3.2GHz @ stock voltage. Video card is running at 675/1700/1000Mhz (core/shader/ram). View the Flickr site for more pics. Sorry for the dust and finger prints, too lazy to clean out the case.

............................................ damn you T___________T (HR-05 IFX + Ultra 120....)

8/10

EDIT: Wait a minute, how did you get your CPU cooler to fit with the NB cooler? Is the HR-05 IFX thinner?

It fits with no clearance. To get the fan clips on where the Ultra-120 and the HR-05 meet, I had to use long-nose pliers to pull the clip out from between and clamp the damn thing on. I also had to off-center the HR-05 a bit to the "south". That was the reason for all the electrical tape under the HR-05, it acts as a shim to prevent my NB from shorting out.

Oh, so the HR-05 is off centre? I don't think thats very safe... in my opinion, mount it the way that i mounted it because:

1. The nb will be on centre, your nb will run far cooler thanks to the better mounting pressure
2. The nb will be cooled by the fan on the Ultra 120... see, my HR-05 doesnt even feel warm!
3. Much more clearance... far safer in comparison

Very slighly off center. I can't center it anyway since the Ultra-120 is so large so #3 doesn't apply and I already know about #2. I just hate the mounting system of the HR-05 - It gives the mounting bolts a lot of room to play which makes it a pain. This is the reason I've been wanting to upgrade to an X38 because they come with an IHS so after-market NB coolers should be a cinch to install. I could always add the old 80mm fan that was there before, I still have the room.

BTW, I've had this system running outside the case before. When overclocked, the back of the motherboard where the NB is located didn't even feel remotely warm under Orthos.

Yeah, I know P31/P35s run cool :p. The IHS makes aftermarket cooling easy to install, but its been proven that bare die > IHS. Have a look at my setup, doesn't it seem like the original HR-05 is thicker? (signature)

Anyway, I'll change your vote to a 10 cause... that looks damn risky!

I voted 10/10 because:

Damn risky but awesome setup that I wish to do (HR-05 + Ultra 120 on a P3x DS3 board... whoa.

Thanks, To tell you the truth, this is my second board (free RMA) since my first install fried the first one.

The normal HR-05 should be the same width, but the ridges on the IFX gives the Ultra-120's clips some room. Take a look at the pic I took for clarification.
