If they put a non-reference cooler I bet they can get higher... man I cant imagine how loud the SSC would be lol

the stock fan on the gts 512 only becomes noticable once it hits about 60/65% but it does whoosh @100%

should be good for 800+ 2000 2000 if mine (and others) is anything to go by.

If its anything like my 8800GTX cooler it shouldn't be too bad.


As marsey points out they make more of a wooshing noise rather than a normal fan whine at higher speeds which whilst noticable isn't too bad.

What's so "astonishing" about that core clock speed then? The 3870 clocks in at 777MHZ and they will relatively easliy OC to >850MHz

You can't compare two completely different processors like that... you can only compare two based on the same processor to each other. Just like the old Athlon vs Pentium debates.
