GCS Game World and Valve announce that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky will be available for digital download worldwide exclusively on Steam. The official prequel to the Survival FPS game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is currently slated for simultaneous release on Steam and at retail outlets later this year. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky brings the players one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in 2011. A group of stalkers has, for the first time, reached the very heart of the Zone-Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant-and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. Through a rich narrative and gripping combat action, players uncover new challenges and insights in the Exclusion Zone. A new version of the game engine, X-Ray 1.5, powers superior graphical details and realistic and non-scripted combat AI. More information and a collection of new images may be found here.

I doubt it, perhaps this is an exclusive "get it first" because ebgames and newegg have the PC-CD version that you can pre-order.

I think it means that the digital download is exclusive to steam. As in there is no other way to download it digitally.

Stalker was probably the best game I've played in while, in fact its the only game I've gone back and played through more than once in years. I have really been looking forward to Clear Sky.
I hate saying it cause it makes me sound like a fanboy, but everyone has different tastes and stalkers single player campaign really appealed to me, so I don't care if I can only get it via steam or if I have to drive to the store, I'm gettin' it :p

Benchmark Scores Nyooom.
I just hope its bigger/less cramped than the original, or they outright made it linear.

Pretending to be fully open was just annoying when 90% of the map was locked off until you had completed the main plot.

Yeah the original was a little annoying at times, I felt wasting time by gaining nothing out of exploring if I didn't advance in the plot. I also hope they change that. Gotta love the atmosphere and photography of this game though.

The official prequel to the Survival FPS game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is currently slated for simultaneous release on Steam and at retail outlets later this year.

There should be a comma before and after "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl".

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky IS going to be released simultaneously on Steam and in stores.

Never played the first one. Maybe I should try it.

I really liked playing the original the freedom of the game was pretty awsome, I did hate running for 30 mins just to cash in a quest though especially with a heavy load. The game was all sweet until about 30+ hours in I opened up the game one day and all my saves were gone randomly :/. May have to think about starting again.

I can't freakin' wait for this! I hope it doesn't have any of the bugs the original had, that'd be a major kick in the nuts!
