Mods:
Asus StarIce for cpu - Zalman VF700AlCu for gpu - Nikao copper ramsinks - CPU @ 3.6G 1.52v - RAM @ 2.5/3/3/7 (240fsb 1/1) - x850pro 16 pipes, pencil mods @ 560c/580m

This was a gradual transformation from a comp bought at Futureshop and offered to me as a present. I kept the cpu, cd writer and the 80G hd. Not alot of eye candy here... bright lights = 1 year old kid playing with my rig! It's rather a simple build with moderate results but I'm pretty satified. Next upgrade: round cables

That is some seriously neat cable management!!! I'd steer clear of the round cables, since you will have a harder time getting them as neat as that... I'm amazed!!

It's a very impressive rig, especially with a tight budget.

Out of interest, what temperatures are you getting with that cooler, and can you remember the original temps? I don't think my Gigabyte cooler's doing a good enough job, I managed 70c last night @ 4.34ghz, 1.51v with 25c ambient temperature... Not good! Although, saying that, @ 4.2ghz, 1.3v it's 37c idle and 51c max load. In a 9c ambient temperature, i have taken it all the way up to 4.4ghz easily.

Overall, great job! Good choice of hardware, amazing cable management, nice no-frills case. I like it a lot!!

Dude... you are frying your processor 1.52v o.O

Very nice....

Love the neat cables.... too bad you dont have a nice case to show it off!!! lol jokes...

not much of a budget build.... lol

Very clean build, GOOD JOB!

LOL, i know! it's a very big overvolt! But it's the only way i can stabilize it with these crazy clocks! It's like i've reached a threshold, where it needs a lot of voltage to go any further. The prob is, @ 60c, the temperature's holding it back, so no matter what voltage i put through it, it'l go no further... But...

I just took my pc outside, and managed a 4.7ghz with 1.52v, max temp of 49-52c in a -1c ambient temp :D

Nice rig, love the cable management and nice x850pro i own one as well. you should think getting a bigger case to get that heatsink working a bit better since you dont have direct flow to it. Overall its a nice rig.

I can only get 4Ghz on my 650 because of my shittyass ram

Thanks to all for the compliments. All I can say is that there are ALOT of nice builds in this thread, kudos to everybody. It's not as neat and tidy as I would like it to be, but I decided to invest into hardware before looks. The case might not be too attractive, but it sure has good airflow!

Well, actually, The old prescott runs normally around 45°-50°c idle with stock cooling @ 3.0. With the new cooler @ 3.6 it runs around 38°-40°c idle and 49°-51° load (fan @ 1/2 speed:2800rpm)... and that's with a 12h Prime95 torture and right after, 1/2h OCCT torture, one Pcmark05 full run and after that Sandra05 cpu tests and one run of 3Dmark03! The gpu runs around 31°-33° idle and 58°c max at load. It's kind of hot, but ok considering my x850pro isn't a good oc'er and I had to push the voltages high to get those clocks.

I'm not sure if I fully understand what you mean, but originaly this was a Cicero comp form Future Shop with a crappy mobo, case, psu, ram, crt monitor etc... At the time I was thrilled to have it (who wouldn't, it was free!) and I've been changing parts for over a year now. I only salvaged what I thought was good. And when your 27 with 3 kids, yes you're on a budget! ;)

pretty good

sure beats my P3 build :P...anyways. I loved the cable management, any PC builder will tell you that hiding all those cables under every nook and cranny in a case is HARD. secondly, you call that a BUDGET build??? what did you do, use an old monitor and find windows off the street? :P. lol just fooling with you, it turned out quite nicely. if I were to change anything, I'd put an Arctic Cooling ATI silencer 5 on that X850. I have an Arctic Cooling VGA silencer for my 9800SE (and thanks to techpowerup, its softmodded to a 9800pro), and trust me, it REALLY does the trick. but otherwise, yeah, good job.

man zekrahminator that p3 must bottlenecking the crap of your 9800!
