PC Magazine Writes Brilliant Review...of Mac OS X 10.5.2

With Windows and Macintosh operating system refreshes/updates abound, someone has to separate the good from the bad. PC World is doing their part by pointing out whom they fell falls into the extremely good category. When one particular review member got their hands on Mac OS X 10.5.2, they simply couldn't stop flowering it with praise. Four pages of amazement can be summed up in the following points, and elaborated upon by following the source link.

• The operating system has plenty of features which have real-world application, such as truly automated backups, document and spreadsheet preview images in folders, and notes and to-do lists integrated into the mail program.
• Leopard is "startlingly fast, brilliantly streamlined, and packed with conveniences and innovations".
• Whatever glitches were originally in the Leopard release are all but eliminated.

First: Despite minor problems, it's by far the best operating system ever written for the vast majority of consumers, with dozens of new features that have real practical value.

Interesting and surprising that a PC Mag says this, good to hear though! Good props to a good OS.

2 GB of Crucial Ram, thinking about getting another 2 GB. Got the 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 300Gb HDD. Not sure what the video card is, I will have to check (just a 64 mb ATI I believe). It should be known, this notebook isn't for my gaming needs and addictions haha...

I just bought a lot of fire wire I found cheap, and I'm about to experiment with IP through firewire.

thats not bad, not bad at all, my asus is still better , but the only thing i will give apple credit for is their laptops, they look good and as of late have had some nice hardware to back up the looks, i still think there a bit on the expensive side, but hey live and let live

I do really hate there desktops but your right their laptops are pretty good, cept the air.. come on no CD drive? Thats pretty lame.

asus g1s, t7500 2.4 ghz, 8600m gt, soon to be 4 gb of ram, 160gb hd, the only thing i dislike about it is that the usb ports are in a bit of a weird spot (all in back) and in power saver mode i can only get a 21/2 hr battery life tops, but other than that i havn't been happier with a laptop, only weighs a little over 6lbs, so its not bad, not the lightest in the world but not bad considering whats inside, how much was your macbook?

Yes, but remote drive is a great solution for a laptop with with such portability. Anyway, the only good Apple desktop in my opinion is the Mac Pro, but it's a tad on the expensive side, but you can't complain when you're getting a machine with 2 quads! What Apple needs is a desktop that is priced between the iMac and the Mac Pro...One that isn't an all in one desktop, and isn't priced quite as high as the Mac Pro due to hardware.

But I don't buy prebuilt desktops, just notebooks because I can't build a notebook. The above is a suggestion for the vast majority of consumers who buy prebuilts.

I'd honestly build a mac if you could and dual boot OSX and Vistax64. There just so exspensive, I cant afford one at my age and probly never will :shadedshu

1,300 dollars at the time, also came bundled with iWork and Office suite, and all the pre-bundled software. I needed Office, I've used it all my life. Student discount FTW!

thats actually not bad for a laptop mein was around 1500, i was expect it to be more considering the hd space, companies love to charge up the ass for storage space on a laptop

I'm sorry that you are immune to sarcasm. I read the article, but my post was mainly intended to be funny and make a point. As for the article, it was nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm absolutely not immune to any form of sarcasm, but the fact is you said what you said and now you're turning around and saying it was sarcasm. There was no laugh face in your comment, nothing. Seemed to me you were being totally serious, and I am still under the impression you were.

IF you happened to watch his video review, he talked mainly about the things that he absolutely (hated). However, it seems to me that the vast number of users aren't PC gamers and he doesn't seem to be either. So from that standpoint, he weighed the pros and cons of different OSes and then determined which OS he considered the best in a unbiased nature. He speaks more about his rants about Leopard than he does the pros.

I'm not saying your opinion about the OS is wrong, or anything like that. For you to call him a biased reviewer seems kinda polarizing on your point, just based on what you have said and the stand point you have had towards Apple since day one of you joining these forums.

I don't agree that it's the all around best OS for the vast majority of consumers, but does it mean that he is biased just because he says so, which happens to disagree with you? I think not. Just my opinion.
