MSI P45D3 Platinum Cinco Pipe Motherboard Pictured

MSI's cooling solution for its upcoming Intel P45-powered motherboard, the P45D3 Platinum, is now out in the open. Set to cool the new mainstream LGA775 chipset the Cinco Pipe is Circu Pipe's successor. The whole cooling system is made out of copper, and features five heatpipes all along the CPU area, northbridge and southbridge. Aside from the chipset cooling, the P45D3 Platinum has four DDR3 slots, two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots with support for CrossFire, six SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, integrated HD audio and just about everything you can dream of. The P45D3 Platinum will be released in Q2.

usually the blue and pink slots are DDR3.

Also from looks of it you can put a fan on the fins to enhance cooling.

It can do both, there were earlier ECS boards with DDR2.

Either. Think of it as a revised P35 with FSB 1600 support and PCI-E 2.0 . Dunno if the second PCI-E slot gets its lanes from the southbridge (as it was, with most P35 boards including those made by MSI)....in that case, the southbridge should feature a PCI-E 2.0 hub.

Yes the RMA/Tech support departments and I are embroiled in a rather lengthy battle right now (3.5 months) and the Better Business Bureau gives them an F. My stance on MSI is that they make wonderful products when they work, you just better pray to whatever god you believe in that they work.

Early this decade (2000~'04) MSI was quite a different company. They used to belt out champion boards. I used to have a Churchmouse MSI KT4-Ultra which at its time was the best AMD board...served well.

Did they ship / you received that 780i SLI board yet?

one of the best board IMO was the MSI neo 2 PT880 it kicked the shit out of the i865PE boards at lower clocks

The P45 splits it's 16 lanes down to 8 per slot when 2 graphics cards are used, and I believe the southbridge has an extra 4 PCI-E 1.0 lanes for the PCI-E 1x. That's what I've read, but I never saw anything about DDR3 support.

My old Skt 478 board is an MSI 865PE Neo2 Platinum and it was an awesome board too, it easily overclocked my 3.0 GHz P4 to 4.0 GHz.

I think they've sent the 780i board, a board has arrived but I can't check to see what it is because I'm away on spring break and won't be back until the weekend.

That heat sink is bad ass and awesome. that board is awesome and I love all the copper goodness. I think the memory slots are pretty about time MSI learned to get a decent color scheme going. Cant wait to see a review. Hopefully AMD boards can get something like this.

Looks like a good board. Certainly good for people like me who love the 90* SATA connectors. MSI however shouldnt make such a thick base. If the P45 has a IHS installed, I reckon MSI should just do a heatpipe direct touch setup. I mean..... with effectively five heatpipes at your disposal, why not make a direct heatpipe touch cooler and reduce the height, as well as make water cooling useless?

The cool thing I have notice that each heat pipe has independent radiator fins. Its not a big copper block that suppose to cool every heat pipe.
