ABIT Computer Corporation, maker of high performance hardware and PC peripherals, is proud to announce the launch of its first ATI CrossFire Xpress 3200 motherboard solution. The ABIT AT8 32X motherboard is based on ATI's latest CrossFire Xpress 3200 Northbridge and ULi M1575 Southbridge with full native support for 2x16 PCI Express slots. The mobo supports all current Socket 939 CPUs, including AMD Athlon 64/64 FX/64 X2 and Opteron and is made of 100% Japanese capacitors. The board uses ABIT's Silent OTES heatpipe technology, µGuru and ATI's chipset features like 7.1-Channel Dolby Digital High Definition Audio, 6x SATAII 3GB/s connectors in Raid 0/1/0+1/5 configurations, Gigabit Ethernet and dual FireWire ports.

Should be interesting to see when this mobo shows up and if it suffers from the same problems other RD480 & RD580 Mobos have shown already? At least it appears you should be able to use both PCI slots on the AT8 32X. In fact it looks like the AT8 and AT8 32X are the same board with just the RD580 chip replacing the RD480. That might be good news if Abit has sorted out the SATA drive and other issues from the AT8 mobo? From the Abit users forum it does not appear that this is the case yet.

I see Abit is offering a $15.00 credit on the RD480 based AT8 at a few U.S. e-tailers but there doesn't appear to be any stock of the AT8. Very strange the way the RD480 /RD580 mobos have been launched with so many inexcusable problems for a socket 939 mobo that is close to end-of-life with the AM2 socket mobos shipping in June. It looks to me like a lot of these rushed out the door mobos are being returned DOA and that has to cost the mobo companies real money in the end.

Benchmark Scores Why?
I bought this board in Febuary and totally hate it and Abit support is terrible. The one I have now is a replacement from the first AT8x32 I bought that didnt work. Ide,s on the board didnt work. I have sound issues, The manual says I have things in the bios that I dont have. The drivers are all old from the Abit site which actually go to the old AT8 board as with the manual. I have had many Raid problems running Windows 64 bit Os. Cant get a single SATA 2 to work. Only thing different is th Rd580 chipset and silicon Raid. If Gigabyte had a Crossfire board I would have stayed with that.
