BFG Technologies announced today the BFG NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT OC2 512MB PCI Express 2.0 graphics card for a suggested retail price of $249.99 USD.

its because BFG have built up a false sense of uber prestige to the point that they think they can charge a 100% mark up on the standard rivals offerings.

This 9 series set of cards is a joke when in terms of being an upgrade from the medium/high end 8 series products.

I have noticed BFG's stuff is overpriced. I think its because they sell there stuff at best buy.

They are overpriced for sure. 5 years ago it made sense, because they were the best NVIDIA graphics card manufacturer around (that is, after Visiontek went ATI-only), they had the best warranty, the best service etc. But ever since XFX/EVGA (and now I hear even Leadtek/Zotac) burst onto the scene and offered better products at a better price, BFG seemed to be left in the dust and are still doing things the old way. If they don't change soon, I'm afraid they won't last much longer. Adapt or die.

wow.i got my msi 9600gt OC for 150 bucks. it works great and has faster clock speeds.

Seems the Visiontek boards for ATI are good stock models

I bet that is an initial market value of that card, but being that the card is cheaper over time, i bet that card will be 175.

I got my Inno3d 8800GT for $150.. and these cards OC like hell. It has 3 year warranty on my local distro and a couple more years from Inno3d itself. Cheap but efffective. same foxconn card in which the more expensive brands use.

I would never fall for these OC, OC2, SSC, KO, XXX, Turbo....stuff. They are warranty-covered to run at high clocks but if you use the stock-clock variants and OC them to those parameters and it fails, the RMA dept. anyway wouldn't suspect, besides, I don't thing OC'ing a stock-clock card to those high-clock-variants' parameters would damage the card. They're the same components.....unless ofcourse the components are binned or come with better cooling. For example, the KO and SSC variants of EVGA's 8800 Ultra include a heatsink behind the GPU though they come with reference 8800 Ultra coolers and of-course the same PCB...they never made a non-reference PCB for the G80 cards anyway.
