Yet another world's first from ASUS, the EAH3650 SILENT/HTDI/1G graphics card model with 1GB graphics memory. This powerful graphics card features the latest generation of ATI GPUs; and with an unparalleled large onboard memory size, is designed to provide feature-rich DirectX 10.1 gaming and the best multimedia playback at ultra-high resolutions and maximum quality settings. Additionally, it natively supports HDMI and is equipped with a noiseless cooling solution - allowing home theater lovers to enjoy enhanced and convenient home multimedia to the fullest.

Unprecedented 1GB Onboard Memory from Qimonda for Best Graphical Output
Even a powerful GPU can suffer from bottlenecks due to slow and insufficient video memory. Therefore memory size is very important, and the higher the amount of memory installed on a video card, the more data it can store, and thus eliminate the need to access the PC RAM. With most current and upcoming games requiring increasingly high video memory requirements, users will need the combination of memory size and speed even more. Thus, with 1GB of built-in memory, the ASUS EAH3650 SILENT/HTDI/1G provides greatly enhance performances, and allows users to fully enjoy games or movies without lag or stuttering even at very high resolutions and maximum quality settings.

Ultimate Home Theater Experience
Equipped with the mammoth amount of onboard 1GB memory, no lag or stuttering will occur - even at Full HD resolutions. The native HDMI support also dramatically simplifies home theater system installations; while the utilization of a fan-less, noiseless cooling solution which operates at 0dB provides silent operations for better multimedia experiences. Additionally, the new 55nm design allows systems to deliver high-end graphical performances while running more efficiently and quietly than ever before. With all of the features mentioned above, the ASUS EAH3650 SILENT/HTDI/1G is undoubtedly the best choice for home theater lovers who pursue true HD enjoyment with 0dB noise levels.

Unprecedented Rock Solid Quality from ASUS
Keeping in line with ASUS' Rock Solid promise for quality, the ASUS EAH3650 SILENT/HTDI/1G comes with several solutions to provide top quality graphic performances. With the EMI shield, 66% EMI Interference can be reduced for more stable signals. The DIP Spring Chokes can also lower temperatures by 5~10oC in comparison with traditional Toroidal Coil Chokes. Additionally, the Japan made polymer capacitors can lower power loss for more stable operations. Therefore, users will be able to enjoy extreme performance and have peace of mind only with ASUS EAH3650 SILENT/HTDI/1G.

Exclusive ASUS GamerOSD for Versatile Graphics Usage
The ASUS EAH3650 SILENT/HTDI/1G also comes with the exclusive ASUS GamerOSD that unleashes the true power of ASUS' VGA cards. This feature is able to deliver GPU overclocking from onscreen displays during gameplay - allowing users real-time performance upgrades when they require it. Additionally, it also provides users with the option to record live gaming action or live broadcasting over the Internet with ease.

ok bucko, HTPC is for Resolutions greater than 1600x1200, the Card is obviously a HTPC card as the cooler is Passive, a gaming card has active cooling and tends to be in a much larger case that has exceptional airflow and usually gaming occurs at 1600x1200 or 1280x1024.

Complete waste of money because the card isn't even fast enough to use all of the 1Gb. of VRAM. It's DDR2 wich sucks :nutkick: because the memory wont oc well.., and low memory bandwith. I think a 512mb version of this card would be better suited for its purposes, and cheaper to manufacture. Overall buy somthing else like a 8600gts on Newegg because you can get one open box cheap, or even a 8600gt, and its way faster .

Cough, GDDR3 is DDR2, GDDR2 is DDR, get the facts straight before bashing.

There's a difference.

DDR1 and GDDR1 are pretty much the same except that system memory DDR1 has 8bits wide I/O and GDDR1 has 16bit width. Basically GDDR1 just allows slightly higher bandwidth than DDR1.

But, on the other hand:
DDR2 vs. GDDR2
DDR3 vs. GDDR3/GDDR4

The difference?
Basically they all are completely different DRAM architectures. GDDR2 has nothing to do with DDR2. DDR2 is a bit like half-breed of GDDR1 and DDR2, it has features from both. The real GDDR2 hasn't been used on video cards for several years anymore, the "GDDR2" you see these days is merely standard DDR2 we all love. GDDR3 is an sort of an enhanced DDR2 - it certainly isn't anything like DDR3. And GDDR4 is just a tweaked GDDR3.

You ask why don't we see GDDR3 used as system memory since they're clearly superior to DDR2 for what comes to bandwidth? That's because GDDR3 is quite a complex chip with a nasty I/O architecture: GDDR3/4 are 32bits wide and DDR2 is 8bits wide. This is a problem since the amount of signal traces that can sensibly be built into desktop motherboards are very limited - by cost that is. 128bits is complex (expensive) enough for desktop pricerange motherboards. So when you have a motherboard with just 128bit bus you could only access 4 GDDR3/4 chips (128bit/32bit) at a time. This would seriously limit the RAM capacity of the system as GDDR3 densities are what they are - 256MB/chip, tops. Usually it's just 128BM/chip. This could be countered with making boards with a huge array of DIMM slots, but that would be even more expensive.

But yes, the 1GB memory is a marketing feature, which is as pointless as MSI working on a 2GB variant for the 9600 GT.

1GB is pointless, especially 1GB of GDDR2. A 512MB GDDR3 3650 would perform better regardless of resolution. The GDDR3 version has double the memory bandwidth of this GDDR2 version.

::blink:: apparently, there are enough folks out there who would get this. Im sure this would be big with OEMs and Boutiques who market to those not in the "know".

What are they talking about when they say "worlds first"?

Sapphire already makes a 1gb HD 3650...so it can't be that part...

This is just pure lame... It has 1gb omg, but it is slower overall, so any aware computer user would pass.

I'd buy that for a dollar ....

...... but not much more.

EDIT: Ok ok enough of the bad talk from me. This would be ok if you have an HTPC that needs to be used on a very high res/HD panel. Other than that, not worth anyones time.

Can add Diamond and Powercolor to that list, both are already selling in stores.

Maybe Asus meant the first silent 3650 with 1GB?

alot of CAD users and animaters who dont need real time rendering will jump at theses, its effectivly a firegl for a fraction of the price, this cards NOT a gamers card, but it has its niche market, just as the 1gb 8600 has its market, i know plenty of CAD and automated design software users who this would be GOOD for because a huge frame buffer=the win with those apps.

granted they shouldnt market it at gamers, but most of the selling points arent stuff gamers would look at, but htpc users and cad users would go "DING!!! I WANT!!!!"

If I still did modeling and animation, I'd wish for a 1GB 3870. All work and no game makes Jizzler a dull boy. :)

Though seriously, with 1GB to play with, it's nice to have a little more "umph" for the highly detailed models and textures that would take advantage of all that space.
