Ah, but PC2-6400 (800) is what's new... the other stuff is -667 or CL5-5-5-x

Nonetheless, kitting out 4 sticks (minimum needed to get decent DDR2 beating bandwidth) is going to be expensive.

Negative, I'm of course talking about 800MHz modules, Valueram though.

I'm seeing €180 (not $169.00) for such kits:

Kingston ValueRAM FB-DIMM Kit 4GB PC2-6400F ECC CL5 (DDR2-800) (KVR800D2D4F5K2/4G)
2x 2GB Module • dual rank • x4 • fully buffered

Do you know of a good source for el-cheapo FB.DIMM. I'm interested!

P.S. Are you still hanging out for a ASUS Z7S WS? I havent seen one yet. Or benchmarks.

Just checked local prices which usually are silly high. As for the Z7S, plenty stores have them listed, no stocks though. On the bright side, they're cheap.

No. FB-DIMM has a similar socket number (240) but is NOT compatible. It has a different memory controller.

So you're waiting for Nehalem?

Crucial CT2KIT25672AF80E...worth a look considering it's a 4GB FB PC26400 kit for as low as $240.
