the FX62 will be at 2.8 no doubt..

the 5000 will be the old FX 60..

the 4800 will be a 4800.. he he

interesting how there isnt much of price difference near the top till u jump to the silly price FX 62.. i spose at that price they dont have to actually produce many.. he he he

it also tends to suggest no performance increase with ddr2 at 600 over ddr at 400..

unless i read it wrong and the FX 62 is still at 2.6 and just gains a bit from extra memory bandwidth.. i doubt it thow..

trog

Thats a good question. Are all the conroes dual core? Also, will AMD release more single cores or is that it for AM2? Will this lower the prices of the 939s or will they just increase? Hmmm....I wonder lol

E6600 and E6700 (and higher) are dual-core, but lower models are still single-cores. So basicly - at least at this point - you can see the number of cores from L2 size (2MB = single; 4MB = dual). This information is based on February's news.

I'm wondering also about the 939 prices, will they start to increase as supply drops or will they get a little cheaper as they try to burn stock? Until i can see a true day to day performance yield from DDR2 i'll stick with 939 and try to get my hands on a X2 4800 if they drop a little bit

It's not just ddr2 they're introducing, isn't virtualization supposed to be a feature of the new cores?? and isn't the power consumption/heat production being reduced? From a TDP of 110W for some down to 65W? The X2 3800 is going to have a TDP of 35W. Pretty darned cool for a dual core. To me, it'd be word the extra cost, if there is in fact a price drop on 939's.

If the Intel E6600 can beat the Athlon X2 4000+, it will be one of the best bang-for-buck CPUs ever produced. I'm not an Intel fan, but if Conroe performs as well as preliminary benchmarks show, I may be building an Intel system later this year.

I just wish that Intel would give their CPUs meaningful names...
